You should not have any trouble once the transfer case is in neutral. The power assist will stop but the wheels will still turn. I had a second power line run to the Jeep Trailhawk to keep the battery charged. I use the Blue Ox braking system. I have not had a single problem in over a year's towing the Trailhawk. We have been just about everywhere with it. In fact, I think we have towed it further than we have driven it. I had the Blue Ox wiring kit installed for stop/turn/tail lights. Hope this helps.
