Having just communicated with Bob (Rebelsbeach) off line reminded me of something that should be known. Two people from TRW including one of the most knowledgable people on the new Newmar exclusive Comfort Drive, were in a serious auto accident last Thursday night enroute to Newmar. There condition was critical at last news.

I'm sure we all hope they have a speedy recovery.

Peter, I spoke on the phone with Ken Sherwin on several occassions and he went out of his way to assure I not only understood how the Comfort Drive worked, but that I was a happy customer.

He is a tremendous source of knowledge for the Comfort Drive and a very nice person as well.

My prayers are with the two gentlemen and their families in their time of need...

Bob, If you in contact with Karl, which I'm sure you will be, please give us an update on this. Both of these people beleived so much in their product that they really wanted to be there to see for them selves. Truely dedicated pioneers.

I will check with Carl in the morning on the coach and will get any updates on the gentleman's conditions...

Thank you all for your concern about our recent accident. Both the other gentleman and I are out of the hospital and I am actually back at work! We should both make a full recovery.

Thanks again for your kind comments.

Mr. Sherwin;I understand that your accident was in a Newmar Motorhome, and there was a malfunction with TRW Comfort Drive. It was in the S. Bend newspaper. What was the malfunction of Comfort Drive?

Motor home overturns on U.S. 31

Tribune Staff Report

PLYMOUTH -- A faulty experimental steering system may have been the cause of a Thursday night accident where a motor home rolled over on U.S. 31 south of 19th Road.

Marshall County Sheriff's Department investigators said Thomas Toren, 66, and his passenger, Kenneth Scherwin, 60, both of West Lafayette, Ind., were in the motor home that was headed north on U.S. 31 in the right lane about 8:15 p.m. Thursday.

Toren told police the motor home suddenly swerved to the right, going off the highway into a ditch, where it rolled onto its top. Both men were trapped inside the motor home among scattered debris until emergency workers freed them.

Police did not provide information Friday regarding the condition of the two men, but said the passenger told police the motor home was equipped with an experimental computerized steering system that malfunctioned, causing them to lose control and wreck. No additional details were available Friday from Marshall County police.

Mr. Grisham,I have spoken TWICE to Newmar highline service, once today and once on Tuesday and mysteriously no one in high line service has any knowledge of this accident...

I was even asked to email the news story to them today, which I did from the South Bend Tribune site.

As the owner of a "Comfort Drive" equipped coach I'm looking for an answer.

rebelsbeach 09-28-2006 01:36 PM

I have spoken to someone at Newmar today who assured me this was not a production issue.
