Road Trip coming up

We are going to have to make a trip to Las Vegas sometime after the 10th of the month and will probably be there for a week or so,visiting my wife's MIL who isn't doing well at all.
I am planning on going down either I-84 to Twin Falls,Id and then 93-318-6 and into Vegas or I-84-I-15 all the way and need info on how the road conditions are on those routes, especially the former. I normally take I-5 going south like that, but man, am I tired of that run..BORING!!! and too many hills.
We'll probably stay at the Oasis as that's where we have stayed before as her in-laws live on the west side of town. I am open to other suggestions as to better and cheaper. (gonna plan on leaving the Maserati at home this time tho)
Send me a message if you're gonna be around and I'll send you my cell #.

You might want to move your post to Camping Locations and Information as you will get more exposure. Some times it's where you post is important to how much response you get. Just a thought just trying to help and not to criticize. Good luck on your travels.:thumb: Jim

The road south from Twin Falls is also quite boring. Lots of straight two lane interrupted briefly by a few curves. Desolate. I woke up from a nap to find my normally law-abiding wife accelerating to 100 in our SUV when we made the trip.

It would be quite an inconvenience for me, but I could look after your Maser. I'm just that nice a guy. Licensed racer, so it would be in good hands.

Actually kidding about the Maser, but the '88 Mustang is a real goer. You've gotta be real careful about where the steering wheel is pointed when you let out the clutch in 1st or 2nd gear. 5L with a 5 speed in an '88 convert. A lotta power for a light litle car and it only has 15,200 miles on her.:dance::dance:.
It looks as if the DW wants to be there for Easter and so I'm planning a nice leasurely trip down I-15 with a day in SLC, so the DW can see the lake and something of the city and mebbee heading up to Bryce and Zion. Also.if the road is good I want to run out to the Golden Spike monument.

The 'stang would probably be safe with me. Our toad is a 2550 lb Miata with ~ 285 hp.

If you're going to do the Golden Spike, it's way North of SLC. JMHO, since I live in the Valley, I'd cruise through on a Sunday most folks aren't on the Freeway that day.
There is a nice looking RV Park North of the City where I-15 and I-215 split, never stayed there, but it sure looks nice from the road.
Too bad we're out snow birding otherwise we'd visit with you while you're in the Salt Lake Valley.

BTW, just south of SL is Lehi and there is a Cabelas there on the east side of the freeway.

Almost forgot, Utah drivers do have turn signals they only use them afterwards to let you know they made a lane change.

It looks as if we're gonna skip that and kinda push it. Planning on Prosser Wa the first nite so we can reload on some wines that are only available there. Then we're gonna head out early and push it the next two days and head for Panguitch.
If any of you are around, we'll be Vegas at the oasis the 28th thru the 2nd. We'll also be staying with friends in Yuma the next weekend.

Pack plenty of shorts, t-shirts and sunscreen for Yuma, it's warm enough now for the a/c.

99% of the mechanicals are from an '05 Mazdaspeed Miata, which runs a small IHI turbo. This one has intake, exhaust, a larger turbo compressor wheel and an aftermarket ECU. I purchased a wreck and transferred all the good stuff into our '95, which is the last year before OBDII. This quick overview doesn't go into the performance of the car - it was the wrong audience for that.

It is quite entertaining to drive, yet still gets ~ 30mpg cruising.
