Convection oven RV friendly?

Our built in convection oven needs repair. We want to buy a counter top one to use until we can get ours fixed. The one we are looking at is a 1500 watt model. Will this be okay in our 38' Tiffin class A? Can anyone help with this question?

You will have to watch the total draw, especially if your rig is a 30 amp service. We have a built in GE Advantium, still good after 11 years but we also have a 50 amp service.

A convection microwave is usually placed on a 20A circuit and that will handle 1500 watts ok. But if you plan to plug it to a regular galley outlet instead of the dedicated microwave outlet, you may come up short. There may be other outlets on that circuit, and the total may be only 15 amps. 15A should still do it (that's 1875 watts), but it's pushing the limit.

If you have an inverter make sure it is big enough to handle the wattage. We've had to replace ours and will soon have to replace the convection oven because the previous owners replaced the convection with a bigger wattage than the inverter could handle.
Just a note: you do not need to buy the convection oven from an RV store. You can get it from Lowe's or Home Depot or where ever. Just make sure it will fit in the spot of the old one and stuff.

We just replaced our Sharp 1870A with a Sharp1875T same unit, just updated. Spot on comment about the inverter! Ours is 850W and cooks plenty fast.
