Now that I am 2 weeks away from my Newmar Warranty expiring, my dealer would like to sell me an "Extended Service Plan" for my 2006 MADP. Although I usually don't purchase extended warranties, the offered plan is somewhat interesting. It is both inclusionary and exclusionary and a pro-rata refund is available if I sell the MH without the policy. Not knowing if I am going to sell or trade the MH before the chassis warranty expires is the big unknown for me. Has anyone purchased a policy from Assurant? If so, would you mind sharing your experience?

Thank you,

Jerry W.

Jerry I have owned several MH's and never a extented warranty. Put some money in the Bank seams to build up faster than in someone elses pocket. http://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

Jerry

I did some extensive research last year on extended warranties and wrote up my findings in the Yahoo Newmar Owners group file section. Here is a link:

You may have to join this particular Yahoo group if your not a member to view the article. If you don't want to do that send me a private message with your email address and I'll email it to you.

Be warned, even though I did purchase an extended warranty, I discovered many, many pitfalls if you're not careful.
Two things: One, you definitely want only and exclusionary policy. There are too many loop holes in an inclusionary policy. I've never heard of one that is both. Secondly, make absolutely certain you understand the start date of the coverage. Most extended warranties start their coverage on the original delivery date of the rv, NOT the date you sign the extended warranty contract.

Jerry,

Did you ever receiv any useful infor on the assurat plan?

JerryKelly 07-14-2007 03:25 PM

Yes, I did recieve information. I did not purchase the an exteded service policy. After all of the noted exclusions, I did not see the value. I plan on selling my MADP after 3 to 4 years anyway.
