Ford V10 Versions
Basic Question: Im going to buy a used Class A on a Ford chassis... what year did the 5 speed automatic come out? my 2001 has the 4 speed.
|
I believe 2006 was the first year for the 5R110 in the F53. Same for the 30-valve V-10.
|
Before I bought our 2006 F35 I called the local Ford dealer. Talked to the parts department and gave them the VIN number. He said that VIN number showed 3 valves per cylinder or 30 valves.
|
As mentioned earlier the change was made for the 2006 model chassis. Be aware that Ford didn't build an F53 chassis designated as a 2005 model. They extended the 2004 model year late, then skipped to the 2006 designation early.

Smart move to run the Ford vin vs. the builder vin. Another way to tell is tow/haul (2006 and up) vs. OD on/off.

Fords figured out!
Excellent answers my friends...!!
Thanks so much for straightening out the Ford versions for me... now I can limit my shopping to 2006 and newer.. Bob Ford:thumb: |
Another Ford question..
I just thought of another question... do any of you have a 2006 or newer Class A V-10 between 32 to 36 feet.... what kind of gas mileage do you get...??
|
Be aware the chassis year and the motor home year often differ. My 2002 Pace Arrow rides on a 2001 chassis.
|
2006 Winnebago Voyage 33v - ~7.6 mpg towing a 2008 Civic.

2007 Monaco 31 foot w/2006 V-10 gets 7 - 8 mpg towing 2001 CRV driving around 60 mph.
|
Mine is still new with a lot of generator running idle time, but 5.93mpg towing my Liberty. hopefully it will see better next Spring.
