Acceptable tow bar angle?

What is a safe acceptable toe bar angle while towing a vehicle behind a motorhome. Should the tow bar be level or can it be a few inches sloped up from the baseplate to the receiver?
I'm thinking I need a Drop Hitch Receiver if I'm running 7" uphill? (car to RV)

Blue OX , says 4" MAX. the closer to level the better.:thumb:

X2, Roadmaster recommends the same. Level is best, 3 to 4 inches maximum from level, although up or down from hitch is acceptable as long as it's not more than 3 or 4 inches.

I use a dual hitch receiver that has a 2 inch or so drop, then a ball hitch that is another 2 or 3 inch drop, puts me almost level on level ground.

You definitely want to get a drop hitch... ask me how I know:facepalm:. Thought I could get away without it for a short trip. I assure you its a lot cheaper to buy a drop hitch than a new tow bar.

Level of coarse is the best. I would not want the toad to be more than 2" lower than the MH but I would never want the toad higher than the MH...JMHO...:)

I would agree that level is best however 2 inches either high or low of the coach would be my outside parameters.

EDIT: According to the information suggested on the Sticky listed above, the Toad hitch point should never be above the hitch of the coach, therefore the tow bar angle is best at level to the coach or 2 inches above the Toad at the coach but never below the toad.

Level, to no more than 4" high at the MH, is do-able, with the product available today.

Follow tow bar manufacturers recommendation.
