I will soon have to choose between the Apex and a Limited. After many many hours of deliberation at home, at the factory, at the dealership, and of course on this forum--the only factor I have been totally unable to evaluate is the improved interior lighting in the Apex-- because, well, it is always bright daylight when I checkout the coaches.

Since I will be full-timing, and the daylight hours are receding, can someone who has moved from the Limited to the Apex or otherwise been in both coaches in the dark enlighten me as to whether the Apex lighting is significantly better than the Limited or whether it does not merit any significant consideration?

If you want to toss in any comments on whether you are still pleased with your Limited to Apex move-up, that would be greatly appreciated as well. After all, it's only money. http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/laugh.gif

I have a Apex and just remember the more horns and whistles you have the more you have to go wrong!!There has been more then once that I wish I had my 03 back.

Norm, We have a 2005 34FDDS and the lighting could not be any better.

Bob, It's nice to see an honest opinion on some of the bells & whistles.

Just Be Aware of the CCC

One Apex I toured through - the listing for the CCC (Cargo Carrying Capacity) was only 700+ lbs.!!! That means if you travel with 3 other slightly overweight people and NO cargo - You will be over the legal weight capacity of the coach.
Check CCC rating - found inside cabinet door.
Bells & whistles can be rediculous - go for good CCC.

We have an 06 Apex and I think the lighting is one its best features. The Limited lights are very harsh and left very little flexibility. The Apex lights are softer and have much more flexibility. Also with the Limited lighting there was fading; and I have experienced little or no fading with the Apex lights.
The kitchen under counter lights are much brighter and better placed.
So from my perspective I think the Apex lighting is a plus.

Not to be rude but that is a pretty expensive reason to have some LCD lighting, but truth be known I think your basement slideouts are absoulutely tremendous. That is a phenomenal asset.

Ted,

I think you missed the point, the lighting is better in the Apex, and as she said a plus. The basement slideouts are the major factor in our decision, but there too not the only one.

I too have had problems with the whistles and bells, but none of them are insurmountable. When we purchased a model that was fresh off of the drawing board we expected that there would be some of these issues. I will say that the factory has been exceptional in helping us over the bumps.

By the way, our Mid Door Apex has a CCC of 1535.5 and so far we are under that!

Daley, welcome to irv2 and the Alpine Coach forum. http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/action.gif
Like Ted said you have the best and aren't those slides something. I had the pleasure of meeting a friend name George and his wife Ellen, retired Airforce, at the Tenn rally, who has a new APEX with all the bells and whistles, that we where trying to figure out.
Lighting was the best I have seen even on some highline coachs that can't compare. All the electronics does require some deep reading. http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/newbluesweatdrop.gif
Daley or anyone else if you want to be a member of the Alpine forum let us know, I or some other moderator will input it for you. http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/thumb.gif

Fluorescent lights are being phased out in all RVs - an EPA requirement due to mercury (something along those lines). Being replaced with halogen lights.
