96 Itasca w/ 454 TBI check engine light

Last summer I had a shop replace my exhaust donut gaskets. They also ended up replacing the drivers side manifold. They forgot to put back on the spark plug heat shields and after 20 min into our trip to Sturgis the check engine light came on and I found out that the wires melted. Got new heat shields and wires installed but the check engine light still came on after a few minutes. Made it back home and parked it.

I just finished installing a new oxygen sensor and installed a set of Accel ceramic plug wires. Fired it up and after a few minutes the check engine light came back on. I'm at a loss as to what could be wrong.

I can't scan my MH as it's an OBDl system but it has a OBDll connector under the dash. I read that you can't jump the pins and have the light blink the code so I don't know what to do. I'm going to call around tomorrow to see if anyone has the correct scanner to read it.

Anyone have any idea? The inline fuel filter back along the frame was replaced a couple years ago. Where is the knock sensor? I hate to just start replacing parts unless I know that they are bad.

It would be cheaper to take RV to Autozone or the like and have them scan it.

That's the problem. Trying to find a place that has the special OBD 1.5 scanner.

My guess is you're sure its a 95 chassis not a 96. I believe a good OBD-II scanner can do both. A good automotive shop should have one. Good luck.

I've got a Actron OBDll scanner. Even though my mh has the OBDll 16 pin connector, it only has 3 pins in it, 5, 6 and 9. I've read online not to try and jump the pins like you can on the OBDl systems as it can short out the computer.

I finally got it scanned at the local RV dealer and it came back a the EGR valve. I replaced the EGR valve and no more check engine light. Took the motorhome out for a test run yesterday on a 3hr round trip and had a bad vibration. Now it's diagnosed as having a u-joint out. I can't win.
There's 6 of them and I think I'm just going to replace all of them as if one is out the others might not be far behind.
