Good Bad & Ugly - 2010 42QBH
Looking at upgrading to a 2010 Phaeton 42QBH from our oldie but goodie Allegro Bus 40OP. Would like to know of any issues I should look for and inquire about before leaping.

Check the "Big 3".

Thanks DeWat... I'm not familiar with what those are?

If it has a tankless wh, check that, open the cover and see if the indicator lights up red while running hot water. A 2010 is getting close to the age where you should change tires. Is the fridge electric only or combo LP/electric. If combo, check to see if recall has been done. Check slides, look at the squeegee gaskets and make sure they are in tack and stay in place when slide is operated. Check, check, check, all systems, jacks, steps, TV's air mattress, heaters, AC's etc.

Good advice above including joining the Tiffin owners forum. When you look at a coach, ask the owner for the maintenance records - I think this is almost more important than the floorplan. Coolant should be changed at 5 years so a 2010 is right there for the change. Transmission fluid change should have been done by now. Oil changes and maintenance annually. Tires can go longer than 5 years but after the five year date it is recommended that you have them inspected by a professional annually. Ask about the air dryer- has it been changed? The Cummins engine warranty expires at year 5 from initial date of purchase so check out that date with the owner. If you are really interested in the coach then a climb up on the roof would be a good thing to check for any obvious signs of rail cracks, missing caulking, damage. Good luck and hope it all works for you.
