i'm getting false low air alarms on my 2001 dutch star. It usually happens on start up and the alarm continues for up to 20 minutes ( very annoying). I do have plenty of air , brakes work fine. After 20 minutes or so it becomes intermittent, the gauge for the front air swings rapidly from zero to 130+. I,m taking it in next week , I was hoping to hear from someone who has experienced a similar problem and how it was fixed. Thanks!!!

I'm having similar problems with mine...front air gauge will suddenly go to 150 with warning light, then drop to 60 and occ trigger a low air alarm on the dash....tech diagnosed it as a faulty gauge. It was replaced and same problem, so it IS the sending unit..will be switched out this week

The false air alarms on my '00 Dutch Star/freightliner chassis are identical. Have held off fixing due to est. $500 cost AND because I switched leads on back of frt and res dash gauges and it has NO effect-only the frt gauge is eratic. How can this be if it is the sending unit or other sensor? Also tech told me it was a bad master control unit of some sort which controls all dash gauges and I should be seeing other gauge problems-which I don't! Please let me know if you have found solution. Thanks

I never did get my sensor replaced..Spartan halted the shipment saying it was likely a loose connection in the daisy chain, the way those 2 gauges are wired...not a very good answer or fix..mine SEEMS to have fixed itself now that it's hot weather...stay tuned

My false low air alarms went away when The dealer replaced the V.O.C. (vehicle onboard computer) I have a frieghtliner 300hp. 2001 dutch star 3852.

We also have a 2001 DSDP with the same problem. It first occured while the coach was under warranty so we took it into Freightliner. The problem wouldn't present itself while they had the coach so "they couldn't fix something that wasn't broken". We only drove about 2 miles from FL when it started again, took it back and again the problem wouldn't show. We were charged for taking it in. Since we had plenty of air & brakes worked fine we disconnected the very annoying buzzer. The guages still do the same thing but we're just living with it.

I posted the same problem in the Freightliner forum. My 2002 Itasca has the problem on the rear air. Pegs at 130, then after a variable amount of time - a few seconds to even like 30 seconds - will drop down to 60, alarm, and then go back up. Anyone experience the repair of this problem. A sensor or regulator needs to be replaced?

How did you disconnect the buzzer? My problem with this air alarm persists on this 5000 mile trip I'm on and I know it is the sensor on the VDC - Vehicle Dash Controller. So how do you deal with the buzzer - where is it under the dash or did you pull a buzzer fuse?

I finally got a resolution to my gauge fluctuation problem....it was caused by the wrong software version in my dash module...I needed at least ver 1.3...somehow I had 1.1/. Once the proper module was installed (4 times to get the correct one) no more schizo air gauge!!
