....is this thing on? OK people, you need to get out there and go camping. I cannot live vicariously through discussions of technical repairs, interior redecorating and engine oil drips. I need to smell the campfire smoke. I need to see the scenery. I need to feel the coach rolling down that 5% with the PacBrake holding her at speed. Go Forth and Camp my children! Tell me of your adventures so I may slave a little longer keeping your International Space Station in orbit and the toilets in building 4732 unclogged (I have a wide range of responsibilities). http://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

Okay RonNBama.......I had to work inside today and I was so bored I made my list of what to pack for Yosemite. Both food and non-food related items. (Yes MonacoMama I do all of the packing and cooking on the trips).

We leave for Yosemite in 18 days for our 18th annual Thanksgiving at Yosemite. The reservation system is messed up AGAIN, so it's first come first served this year. We leave Tuesday night and sleep at a Denney's in Fresno. Our group ranging from 8-15 people and 2-4 RV's get up in the morning for breakfast at Denney's and then head into the park.

Wednesday is setup of our sites and our 10' x 20' heated tent room, lunch and then a simple dinner. Thanksgiving Day is a nosh (large snack) in the afternoon and a turkey on the Weber by three. Three end to end tables in the tent room are fully decorated with candles and centerpieces while the dressing, potatoes, salad, rolls and other goodies are prepped.

After dinner we head to the ice skating rink and our two daughters, now accompanied by their fiancees (big money next year http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/sad.gif) ice skate while we sip cocoa around the rink fire place.

Friday were off for a hike in the morning, another nosh in the afternoon and homemade stew around the fire pit. After dinner we head to the Ahwahnee Hotel for cocktails and sit around the main room like we are guests there.

Saturday is a trip to the Yosemite falls with packed lunches and back again for you know what, another nosh. Finally, we through a couple of 6 pound prime rib roasts on the Weber and eat until we all realize we had way to many big dinners in a row.

About 7:00Pm we pack up the tent room and all non-essentials and then sit down to dessert around the fire.

Okay.....did that wet your whistle?

Oh yeah.....I have one more trip to Huntsville next year for recertification at Redstone before I retire. I sure like Huntsville in the winter and spring, but a trip there in last August almost killed me.

MonacoMama.....Do you think you can sneak down to Yosemite? I'll meet you by the falls. Shhhhhh!

San Diego for the Avon Breast Cancer walk next week.
Something near buy in December.
Lake Lopez near Pismo January 3-7
Quartzsite at the end of January

Sixpack98 11-02-2007 02:06 PM

Redstone huh?? Maybe you can get a deal on some used solar panels http://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...on_biggrin.gif

We got back a few weeks ago from 21 days out west in New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Nevada. Lost money in Vegas, fell asleep on the train from south rim of the GC back to Williams. Those margaritas sure were good. Loved passing the 18 wheelers on the interstate (17) from Phoenix to Flagstaff. Lake Powell was beautiful when the wind stopped blowing and Zion was beautiful. We camped on the Virgin river with Zion in the backgroumd. Bull dogged our way through the Super Walmart in Flagstaff - bad Walmart to stop at, very small parking lot.

We will be leaving East Texas next Thursday for 4 days in Texas Cajun country (Beaumont). Visiting relatives but also going to the casino in Lake Charles and going to a local cajun fest.

Leaving early January for South Carolina, SE Georgia and Florida and hoping we can make it down to the keys.

RonNBama 11-02-2007 02:21 PM

Ahhhhhh, that's what I'm talkin' about. Thanks for the "fix".

When you get back on Redstone, give me a buzz and I'll buy lunch. I am on the NASA side, but the MP's allow us across the border if we play nice.

I rearranged the "stuff" bin today by organizing the tarps, water hoses, wheel chocks, electrical cords and such. TOWMBO had to work so I didn't even try to get a trip to a local park set up. Lake Guntersville is still a favorite.

Hey Ron - my dad worked at Space Systems/Loral in Palo Alto, CA, working on power systems for the ISS. http://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo.../icon_cool.gif

Our adventures are light right now. We are at Sun N Fun in Sarasota, Florida. Very cool place, but I have been working a bit much to get out and enjoy the sunshine. We will change that with a trip out to Siesta Key tomorrow for some beach time http://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

Went to the park Halloween party the other night. These folks know how to enjoy themselves http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/party.gif

Here are a few little pictures to click on and make big pictures.

You looked like Stephen King in your Halloweenie attire. http://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

Like that park. Nice trees.

Looks like they could use a bit of power systems help about now with that gimped-up solar array. Can you imagine working on a live 150VDC piece of equipment!

Hey sixpak, better fill your water tank before getting to SE GA. The drought has been tough in the north/central this year. Don't know how they faired further south.

MCDDY 11-03-2007 04:56 AM

Ron, I know that feeling, really got the itch to go somewhere, anywhere. Nothing for a couple of weeks and that's a local to So. Louisiana FMCA rally in Rayne.
You mentioned Lake Guntersville, haven't been there in quite a while, 8or9yrs. Why not add another 30 or so miles and go on over to Desoto SP @ Ft. Payne. Really nice park especially this time of year. Only one drawback, like the BoyScout, come prepared, Dry County.
Hope all you BAMA folks have very long faces by 2100 tonight.
Dave

I mapquested it ...it should take me ONLY 11 hours to get there...and 11 back to here -if there is no traffic! http://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...s/icon_eek.gif ....see you then! http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/wink.gif
PS...Do ya think Sacs will notice I'm gone?http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/oboy.gif

PS...sounds like a great trip...have a wonderful time!

RonNBama 11-03-2007 02:02 PM

Yeah MCDDY, Lake G is nice and close. I like Desoto too. Lots of nice trails for walking the mutts. It goes without saying that the beverage bar is well stocked at all times.

Think we're going to try Falls Creek next weekend. Never been to their RV section. It has good reports from folks who have been there.

The Crimson Pakeyderms look pretty pitiful the first half. 17-3 right now and the lights are getting dim. Being an Auburn fan, this isn't too upsetting, but I still hope for a decent game in the second half. http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/thumb.gif

MCDDY 11-03-2007 06:21 PM

Well thought I'd run that part by you in case you weren't an Eagle Scout.
Sounds like ours, you go fill up with diesel and other necessities.
Awesome game, but the better team prevailed, week before last also. Got a few friends I used to work with who are those Red Elephant grads. Gonna have some fun this week. Hope your guys can keep up Bama's losing ways in a couple of weeks.
Geaux Tigers
That covers us both right.
Think I'll go partake of Potato Liquor.

Heck-of a ball game. LSU tried every way possible but just could not lose it. http://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

MonacoMama 11-03-2007 08:40 PM

OK...this is close to being " http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/sign0018.gif" ...but I can tell you that being up here in Eugene - Home of the Oregon Ducks...College football takes on a whole new meaning! http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/nod.gif
The RV park I am staying at fills up completely every home game weekend. Evidently there are many RVers who come into town for the games.
This morning was a little different. The park was full last night...but I looked out the window this morning(early)and half of the spots are empty...even though kickoff isn't until 3:45PM http://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...n_confused.gif Turns out ESPN in the Morning is in town...and starts broadcasting at 7AM. People left at 5AMhttp://irv2.infopop.cc/images/sign0056.gifto get over to the stadium http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/cute.gif.
Eugene is the second biggest city in the state BUT this town basically CLOSES DOWN for all Duck home games. It is like the town has been evacuated http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/scared.gif ...anyway...the game is over (Duckshttp://irv2.infopop.cc/images/luxhello.gifwon) and the park is full again.

( Maybe I should get a bunch of iRV2 stickers and put them on the rigs!! http://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...on_biggrin.gif )
