103 degrees rad hose tight

if I'm going to a 4000 pound camper up some steep hills at 103 air temps is it OK that my radiator hose is superhard ?

Probably OK.

Is it a new or old hose? Top or bottom hose? Is it hard when the motor is hot or cold?

laj 09-08-2015 11:33 PM

no, it's not ok. rad hoses are made to stay flexible within the parameters of their design. hot or cold. i would change both, possibly also the heater hoses. jmho

hoses should be hard once the motor and cooling system has warmed up.

The hose is withstanding 15 to 20 lbs per square inch or internal pressure, the pressure of the cooling system cap.

Squeeze a garden hose with the water off and the end open and then, with the water on and the nozzle closed.

A lot more pressure in a water system, but same theory.
