Finally got our Goldwing!
Now we want to take both with us on our travels.
Any suggestions?

We take either our '99 Blazer or '00 Rav4 and our 2 bikes (pedal type) via a 20' enclosed trailer. Used to do 4 on the ground; but, find the trailer a lot easier, cleaner, safer, etc., Ken,'04 DSDP...

I'm currently revisiting the "trailer" idea...My research is tilting the tables toward a Featherlite Trailer with an aerodynamic front and a loading ramp in the front angle to facilitate unloading the bike OR the vehicle.

This trailer is similar, but with the front ramp door coming off the left aero front panel.

I ran into a nice couple about two years ago in their new Dutchstar and he had a 1000lbs capacity electric lift for his goldwing AND extending through it was a hitch bar for his toad. He gave me a brochure on it, but I'm sorry to say I do not have that anymore and don't recall the manufacturer. It was something to see and he was very pleased with it. I believe it was made in Texas. Not a lot of help here, but it is out there. Good luck with the hunt!

TonyVan - You are probably talking about the model. Self conatined, hydraulic lift with hitch for flat towing at the same time. An impressive unit. About $5k installed on a K2. Do a search on this forum for an extensive discussion about using this type of lift. Lots of "opinions."

Swop the Cherokee for a pick up then load the bike in the back of it and off you go.

I agree David....

If I were going to carry a bike and a toad WITHOUT a trailer,it'd be a pickup/bike/coach arrangement.
Personally,a crew cab pickup with a shortbed would be a better solution...They're making these trucks with all the same bells and whistles too!

I've seen these things firsthand,even posted pics last week of one I saw at Lazydays in Seffner....I'm NOT convinced.

Each of these things mount on the rear of the coach and create a cantilever off the rear of the coach. In my opinion, the distance from the rear axle that this load sits is not acceptable.
I just don't see how this "loading" can be anything but a cause for issues down the road with respect to the chassis of the coach...
This is my opinion and it's worth what ya paid for it....

Bob, as you know I have purchased one of these bike loaders but I am installing it on the rear of my Mountain Aire. I am running about 4k under my gvw when loaded on the fiver with tandem duals so I don't think it will be an issue. I have an option what to carrie, the suzuki 800 which only weighs in at about 450 lbs or the Harley.I will have it installed later this month before we head down to Myrtel Beach.

I didn't recall you having bought one David...With everything I've been doing with the coach and life in general, it may have slipped my mind.

There are lots of lighter chassis out there rigged with bike haulers and without issue. We will get the same for our K2. I would proceed with the bike hauler as so many others have successfully done.
Bob, your first stacker was so overloaded that you broke your hitch (with a 1,500 pound tongue limit). How can you say that having a heavily loaded trailer won't place as many or more stresses on the chassis especially with the condition of many of the highways and backroads?

I knew that would come up....

As it turns out, the Stacker didn't have ENOUGH tongue weight,so it was IMPROPERLY loaded....NOT OVERLOADED.

Sure,it was my fault but I figured a golf cart weighing 1200 pounds was sufficient...

I respect your decision and we'll have to agree to disagree.
