Nice floor plan - we would like that one too. Knight started out life as Monaco's entry level diesel but I think Cayman is now in that slot. Certainly the Knight has quickly gone upscale in just 3 years since it was introduced. Monaco still has a fine reputation and barring a real lemon (even Monaco has them), it should be an excellent coach.

I'm curious why you called it a Monaco/Holiday Rambler. Knight is a Monaco brand name and even though Monaco also owns HR (and Beaver and Safari), there is no Holiday Knight. Of course, there is a very similar coach, based on the same chassis and body, offered under the HR name. It is the Ambassador.

Hi Gary Thanks for the info. The reason for the dual name was exactly what you said--the ambassador and knight seem to be the exact coach. I have been looking at both brochures and coaches ands I can find very little difference. The saleman who sells both tells me that" they are built the same and then the name is put on".

Gary RVRoamer 02-05-2005 08:21 AM

I suspect that is true. Monaco & HR have several models like that. And the Beavers & Safaris are also beginning to imitate the main Monaco product line.

We have a 2004 HR Vacationer. Yes the Monaco's La Palama is the same except different color inside and out. The other models are also the same except the color. But other than that, it is the same. Their warranty attidtude is excellent. They have a company warranty place in Wildwood Florida that is outstanding. We bought ours this time from Colton Rv in New York. We live in Florida. It was worth our time and effort to trade our previous 1999 HR Vacationer with them. We bought our previouse MH from a large dealer in Florida and Colton gave us $11,000 more in trade in than the Florida dealer offered. My salesman was Ron "the mayor" at Colton. They let us stay in their campground (next to the dealership)as long as we wanted ( 6 days) just to get acquainted with the new unit. Highly recommend the MH and Colton. s/Toby

Thanks for the info, Toby I will give your saleman a call and telol him you referred me. Worth a shot if I can save some money.

Toby would you have a phone # for Colton rv

Toby 02-06-2005 12:58 PM

Tom
Their number is 1-800-628-4889. These people all the way to the General Manager (Mike) could not do enough for us. They checked with us everyday we stayed in their campground to see if there was anything they could do for us. I was a little apprensive about travelling all the way up to New York with a trade-in that they had never seen. We agreed on a price before I left Florida. I was sure they would hassel me about my trade when I got there. But when I got there, no problems, they said what a nice unit I had and gave me what we had agreed on over the phone with the trade in. I shopped all over the USA( again for the MH) and they by far was the nicesest to deal with also with the best deal. When I got ready to leave, they even gave me a gift certificate to shop in their parts dept. Highly recommend Colton RV. (We traded in July--although Ron Pringre (our salesman) said they do more business during the winter. I don't think I would go up to Niagara this time of the year though, but you could do it over the phone like we did and take delivery when It warms up. s/Toby

Oh Yea. I had a lender all lined up to finance our unit, but Ron ( and Tom the finance guy) got me a rate that was 1/4% less. I also shopped every place I could find for the rate also. s/Toby

We have had a HR TT for over 7 years. The first one (1997) was poorly done. Many trips to the dealer and to the factory with problems. We ordered a new one in 2001 and have been quite happy with it. The only time we had a problem, the person on the 1-800 help line was very unhelpful. Finally, on Monday, I called our dealer and sales rep. and we got things worked out nicely.

Good Luck.

Frank

Tom, I had a like experience and dealt with Mellott Bros. in Willow Street Pa. They came in $8,000 better than any dealer that I could find, with the exception of DeMartini(in Calfornia?).

I also live in Florida and have had all my warranty work done at Wildwood. My experience has been 100% favorable as far as Wildwood goes.

Mellott Bros. was true to their word and the deal was completely painless. If you are inclined check them out, as well as Colton, and DeMartini(sp?) http://www.mellottbrothers.com/mellott.html I dealt with a salesman by the name of Jim Wiesser.

Good Luck on your search.

We have a 2003 HR Endeavor. We looked at the Monaco Diplomat. These are sister coaches. They travel down the same assembly line. The only differences are cosmetic, interior/exterior colors and badging. Think Chevrolet/GMC pickups. You will probably find this common throughout the Monaco/HR lines.

We purchased ours in Mesa AZ at R. Crist and Co. Very happy with our purchase. We bought it because of a bad experience with a Winnebago (it was a lemon as far as I was concerned). We were visiting my parents in Mesa and I wasn't going to drive the Winnebago one more mile.

DeMartini in CA has an excellent reputation and very good pricing. Several of our friends have purchased there and are very happy. Just a little bit of travel though from Florida. We had all the normal warranty issues that were resolved and have nothing but nice things to say about the HR family. Good luck with your purchase.
