VIN location for a 1978 Ford Travelcraft Motorhome

Hi,

Does anyone know how I can locate the VIN on my 1978 Ford Travelcraft MH? I have searched high and low and have not been able to find it anywhere. I don't have a registration for the vehicle either as the previous owner lost it and it has been out of registrtion for over a year. I haven't worried so much about it since I have been focusing on making it livable and operational.

If anyone knows anything that will help, I would really appreciate the help.

You didn't say what Ford chassis your RV is built on, but most Ford trucks have the VIN stamped on the top of the right side (passenger) frame rail near the front of the engine. You might need a wire brush to read it.

Thanks BFlinn181. I unfortunately don't know what Ford chassis it is built on. But I will definitely look there. All I know about it is what I got from the previous owner, which isn't much. As you can imagine, there is no owner's manual to be had for it, so I am having to figure out a lot of stuff on my own.

BFlinn181, The chassis style is a van style chassis with a full size RV built on it. Now I feel foolish because I didn't understand the question. Here's a photo of the front of the vehicle. Thanks for the help!

That's a cutaway van chassis, E series. On pick ups (F series) its on a metal plate on the driver's door. Often also on a plate on the driver's side dash, readable through the windshield. If you don't find it in those locations, or on the top of the frame rail, call your local Ford Dealer and ask them.

As Bob said, thru the lower corner of the windshield. Something like this.

I really wish it was, but there is no vin tag in that location nor on the driver/pass door or door frames that do me any good. That's why I am stumped. But thank you, Nick-B!
