Eugene, Or to Shasta Lake

Looking to drive from Eugene, Or. to Shasta Lake next week driving a 37' DP with toad on I5 through Grants Pass. Anyone who can give a nubie an idea of road/driving conditions would help me out a lot.
Thanks/Jim & Diane

I5 in October should be no problem. The typhoon rain and wind should be done by then. (-:

Done the route many times, you will be fine this time of year. I have done a considerable part of that route in a car with chains...not fun

We have traveled this part of I-5 many times, should be no problem for your set up.

You mentioned Grants Pass but I'm wondering if you mean Siskiyou Summit which is about 5 miles north of the California border on I-5. During times of bad weather, Siskiyou is the one you'd have to be really concerned about. It is a steep 6% grade which can be treacherous in periods of snow and winds. This time of year you should have no issues.

Good freeway all the way with steep grades in both Oregon and California. Do watch the weather forecasts - can occasionally get heavy rain and snow in the high passes.

About 13-14 miles south of the CA/OR border is one of the nicest rest areas on I-5. A good place to stop for a break.

Been driving the I5 from CA to WA since '97 2 to 4 times a year. At this time of year, you might get some rain so just slow down. Nothing serious to worry about

Should be smooth sailing, just watch out coming down Mt Sexton.
Then once your into Cali just keep an eye on your speed. The CHP will stop you for speeding if your towing anything. With all the rain they just received its going to be a very nice road trip.

Safe travels
