Finally got my new coach. I ordered it April 10th, ready Aug. 28th. Late delivery due to special options. I took factory delivery through my dealer, RV WArehouse in Canada. Newmar PDI with Lamar was awesome, worth 10 times the cost. RV Warehouse was great at getting it cleared and licensed in Canada. The whole thing was a total positive experience. 45 feet of absolute luxury. Cheers for Newmar and RV Warehouse.

Congrats!!! We have our PDI scheduled thru Service Dept-who is Lamar? tks, Dave

Lug_Nut 08-31-2006 01:53 PM

Lamar is one of the people that work exclusively with Essex or London Aire PDI's and adjustments. They have their own building and area.

CONGRATS Peter on your new buggy!!

With Ernesto knocking on our door,we just might BE in ours over the weekend!!

You have a nicely appointed coach and I'm anxious to hear how you like the options you selected, especially the power shades on the side windows.

Can't remember if you did the SmartTire?

Anyway..... another Essex on the street!! http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/luxhello.gif http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/love.gif

PETER: CONGRATULATIONS on your new ESSEX http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/party.gif

I know you have been waiting a long time, but that is what it takes to get exactly what you want. I believe you did an enormous amount of research, and made the decision to go with the Essex only after careful consideration. Hopefully yours will not fall prey to the problems Bob has had with his new coach. Good luck to you, and ENJOY! ED

Peter,

Congrats and good luck with your new coach. We went the used route on an 06 and it is a great coach. Hope you enjoy yours as much as we are enjoying ours.

Peter, When you get a chance let us know what all the PDI entailed. We are interested in what our $1800(price went up) will be for.

rebelsbeach 09-01-2006 04:23 AM

While I realize the factory PDI is preferred by many, I would like to hear from Peter or anyone else that has recently picked up a new coach at the factory.
Having gone through a relatively exhaustive and descriptive PDI at Howard RV recently and not having to pay the $1800 or wait a long time to be scheduled, I would like to know the difference.

The "obvious" benefit would be the availability of parts, but what else is there?

Lug_Nut 09-01-2006 05:10 AM

There are two sections to the factory PDI. First section is done by the tech's without the owner. Everything is tested, and I mean everything, even filling the washer and running, a road test, etc. All adjustments or replacements are done at this time.
Then the 5 day owners time. One tech works with you going over everything on the coach and adjusting as required for your preferences. I had Lamar, the tech, who didn't just tell you how and where to adjust the Gerrard windspeed setting but opens the electric system and shows you. He also insisted on a road test, something I did not think necessary. The road test revealed a slight wind sound requiring an adjustment of the door.
At one point there was 3 techs checking and adjusting the synco of the 3 dash monitors. We only stayed two and a half days but if I were to do it again I would definately stay the entire 5. They put you in a special area at the Essex/London Aire building where they have two 50 amp services. If you want water they fill it each day and empty your holding tanks if required. They want you to live in it and find any questions or adjustments you would like.
In my opinion it is a steal at 2k. 1) Your coach is 100% prefect. 2) You will know more than you would probably ever find out.

If you have the chanch, go for it, but make sure you have all 5 days.

Hope to see you at the Newmar International Rally in Essex Junction, Vermont. Ed.S

Ed, I would love to be there, but time is tight as fall approaches as I'm headed for Florida by the end of October and it might be nice if I showed up at work for a day or too before I disappear.
