2017 Florida to Alaska Trip
The time has finally arrived—tomorrow morning, bright and early, my wife and I will hook up our travel trailer and head out on the trip of a lifetime to Canada and Alaska. The trailer is loaded and ready and the reefer is cooling down and the cold stuff will go in the evening. All systems have been checked and are 5x5 (good to go). Our home is ready and we will be having some family staying in it most of the time. The routes have been loaded into the GPS. We will first head north to southern Illinois to visit family then West to Denver to spend the 4th of July with more family. On July 6 we will head north to Wyoming and Montana and cross into Canada at Sweetgrass, put to Calgary then West to the Icefield Parkway. From there to 40 up to Grand Prairie and The to Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek. More updates to come in this thread.

I will be watching for your posts as well. We plan on doing the "Alaska" trip at least once before we get to old to make the journey (like many...this is a bucket list item...along with traveling through the Eastern Provinces of Canada).

We traveled across (Manitoba to BC) Canada in our rig, but never north of Jasper. Canada is beautiful. The Canadians are even more so!

The Ice Fields Parkway is unbelievably beautiful. Do yourself a favor. Take your time on the Parkway. Use the pullouts to look and see at what is around you. Take a hike or two along the way.

We were there in September of '15 and according to the locals, it was unusually cold (down to 17*F at night). Your weather experience may be different. Here is one panorama that I captured on my iPhone just to wet your whistle:

Travel safely. Go forth and build some happy memories!

Thank you. We live in Florida and today was 92 F and 95% humidity, so we are hoping for some cooler or colder temps up North. LOL

I was in Alaska fifteen years ago climbing Denali, but my wife has never been there. Haven't been to Canada in over fifty years and never western Canada, so we are really looking forward to it.

Plan a night at Liard Hot Springs (Provential Park) along the Alcan. 50 or so sites, 20 can be reserved, the others are first come. 700' boardwalk to the Hot Springs.

[emoji106] Yep, we plan to do the Liard hot springs.

Today it is 70 with 37% humidity with lots of sun on the Kenai. Rain due next week, back to the low 69's.
