I see Sams carries POM bath tissue now in a redesigned box thats says "now recommended for rv, marine and portable toilet septic systems".

Has anyone been using this product in your rv and have you had any problems???

If it is good for the rv, sure will save me some money.

I have been using POM at home with a private septic system for three years without any problem and with tank pumped and inspected last year.

I just picked up a box of POM the other week. It was highly recommended to me by an RV friend who has benn using it awhile and swears by it. I used it this past weekend and it seemed to be just fine. Time will tell.

there's been a lot of discussion about tp's in the past. just thought i would throw in my roll of paper. we've been using angel soft for approx. 6 yrs. in our 02 beaver with no adverse problems. we fulltimed it for 4 of the 6 yrs.
the good thing it's available at all supermarkets! jim.

FWIW - we have been VERY dissatisfied with the new "more expensive" Thetford paper at CW and Wally World. It doesn't dissolve worth a darn!!

I, and my late DH and I, have had an RV since the 1970s and the only times in those 30+ years I have used the RV paper was the 4 times I bought a new RV and was given a pack of it as part of the packages they give with a purchase. I have never had any problem at all. I always made sure it was labeled safe for all septic systems. Back in the 70s and through the 80s we only used Scott but now I use any brand listed septic safe.

The other thing I don't do is use chemicals. I learned this from other RVers and haven't used any holding tank chemical for about 10 years. I have been full time for about 7 1/2 yr. I always try to use plenty of water.

Don't waste your money on special rv toilet tissue, when the other will work. We have used Angel Soft for 8 years and it works fine. There are other brands that do just as good.

We use the Kirkland brand from Costco that reads "septic tank safe" seems to work well for us.

There is a good way to test toilet tissue to see how well it dissolves. Test it before you put it into your holding tank, because if it doesn't dissolve, you will have a big mess.

Put 1 or 2 sheets of the tissue into a small jar with about a cup or two of water. Put on the lid and shake for a few seconds. If you see hundreds of small "flakes" of paper swirling around in the water and no large clumps, the paper should cause no problems for your RV holding tank.

I agree with Paz. When we picked up our coach we were told that we didn't need to buy the expensive tp. We did the same test as Paz with Scott's tp. It's septic safe and so far we have not had any problems. Do the test in the jar of water and watch what it does.

I read the the dissolving test with the jar of water some years ago but never stopped buying the "approved" camping stuff.
Thanks to this thread, I will be using regular tissue from here on out. http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/wiggle2.gif
