Slide lock problems
1 Attachment(s)
I've had two issues so far, one was small the other not so small. Last summer closing the kitchen slide I had a couple tiny ball bearings roll off the top of the slide on the drivers seat. The bearing in the flip up lock on top of the slide had disintegrated. Newmar would only sell me a complete assembly for about $400 so I decided to just get the bearing & fix it myself.

What just happened wasn't so small. DW rolled in the bedroom slide & it stopped with a terrible sound heard under the bed. One of the slide locks is frozen & the exterior paddle didn't compress. The slide motor didn't stop instead it broke three of the motor mounts. Called Newmar yesterday to request a diagram for the slide lock & I'm still waiting for my "high call volume" call back. Question, does anyone know who the mfg is for the slide locks that Newmar uses?

Below is just a picture of the failed bearing from last summer. I didn't see the need to post a pic of the frozen one as it appears just like all of the healthy ones. It simply won't budge. Thanks

Is your lock similar to the lock in the video in this post.

Kind of off topic, but I've never had an issue with my slide locks, so I never really investigated how they worked. I just watched the video, and saw how they function. I'm glad this post came up and I watched the video.

Bill....If you can't find an outlet for the parts and have a good relationship with your dealer, maybe they can get you a better price.

Thanks 007 & Don yes that is the slide lock system I have. I have 5 that work as designed & one that is stuck & cannot be forced in. I've had the motor replaced (part alone was $800) by a mobile service. It was after that I realized the reason that likely caused that failure. I will try to fix myself but I have a great Newmar dealer nearby if I can't.

Read the links in that thread the lock can be dissembled to clean up and lube, return spring maybe all rusted up.
