We are looking to move up from our trusty Southwind 32V to a still-short pusher. After visiting the Pomona RV show this weekend, we still like the Itasca Meridian 34H/Freightliner w/ 350HP Cat C7 very much. Richardsons told us they had a new 2007 34' Safari Simba on one of their lots and I looked at it on their website. It also has a C7 though 330HP on the RR4R Roadmaster chassis.

Can anyone share pros/cons/comparisons on these two chassis?

Do some serious test driving of both and make your decision based on your preferences, to include all the aspects of the motor home portion of the package.

I've had both FL and Roadmaster. Far prefer the Freightliner. Especially the Maxxum chassia with the independent front suspension. I don't think IFS comes in until one step up from the Meridian, though.

I had a short DP ('01 Monaco Knight 30J) on a Roadmaster, and it drove downright scary! Which is why I don't still have it!!

I have put 20,000 miles on my Meridian with a 32' chassis. It drives beautifully and handles like a dream. I now full time in it and pull a 4 door Jeep Wrangler to boot. I average 8.5 to 10 MPG towing. I love this rig!

Tiffin Phaeton 36 QSH comes on a Freightliner chassis with Cummins ISC 360 HP/1050 lb. Torque. The Allegro Bus 36 QSP comes on Tiffin's Power Glide chassis with a Cummins ISL 425 HP engine. Take a look at them and see how they stack up. Tiffin Motorhomes
