I purchased my 2005 DSDP at Olinger's in Hillsboro, OR. Now they don't even carry ANY Newmar products. When I asked, why, I was told that Newmar and Freedom Roads (parent company of Camping World) don't get along and don't want to deal with each other. Anyone know the skinny on what the story is and why, etc? Olinger's will still do my warranty work - no problem. Just wondering.

The rumor is that Freedom Roads approached Newmar and insisted on a "special" quantity wholesale discount over the other Newmar dealers. Freedom Roads felt that because of the number of dealers they have, Newmar owed it to them. Newmar refused to cut the legs out from under all their other dealers and refused Freedom Roads request. As a result, Freedom Roads has dropped Newmar.

Hey, Ron, welcome to the forum. Don't worry about a dealer being unsure if he is a dealer. Probably not that good even if they were. You just got yourself one of the most popular best coaches made. I feel the DSDP isone of the best values out there, and I'm talking about a quality coach. Top notch. Enjoy.

You won't be disappointed with your Newmar if any questions feel free to ask before you see your dealer than you will have a pretty good idea what you should expect from your dealer.
Enjoy the forum and all forums on irv2. http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/nod.gif

Thanks for the "comeback." I never doubted the quality of my coach. We really did our homework on this one, and it was going to be a Newmar product for sure. Never really felt we could afford a DSDP, but got a good deal and couldn't pass it up. Now we're saying that "when our DS grows up, we want it to be an Essex!" So getting approbation from an Essex owner is really nice. Thanks.
