Can't believe we left Florida to freeze here in Quartzsite! Did visit the Barrett-Jackson show in Scottsdale-pretty neat. Met Bob Tiffin there-quite a gentleman. Got to the Newmar rally late in Quartzsite(a little stuffy)-but the ATV riding in the dessert has been great!

Your comment "a little stuffy". Please expand. I have never been to a Newmar rally ever even after three Newmar coaches. Your comments may help me in future.

As we arrived late we had not enrolled in the rally and stayed outside of the area. In trying to meet people that were in the rally we found they were more concerned as to whether we were intruding rather than just welcoming us as first timers. Possibly just our opinion as we are more outgoing than most.

Interesting observation. Anybody else get a negative feel at one of these rallys?

I have an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT take on "visitors" to a Newmar Rally,as I had MANY newbies come into the Newmar cordoned off area in Tampa to attend the iRV2 cookout.

This Rally in fact was a "buddy rally" where Newmar Kounry Klub members could actually invite owners of the other brands of coaches to attend along side of us...I saw Winnebago coaches,Monaco coaches and several others.

As a first time attendee to the Rally we were asked to stand and receive a round of applause even...

Never once did I see ANYONE asking if they had paid to attend the rally functions held in the tent, I was even offered more than one ice cream serving at the social...I TOOK IT TOO!! http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/laugh.gif

God bless ya for heading to Quartzite, I heard they had snow there the first few days...

A little dusty for my liking though.

Dav5942 01-23-2007 06:46 PM

Dust was not a problem as the cold kept it away, no snow but did get down to 18 degrees.
Stopped in as it was on our way to Mazatlan, MX(hope its warmer there-last time we were there it wasn't as warm as Florida)

Hi! I totally agree with Bob. The NKK had over 200 coaches in Tampa and it was great. http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/luxhello.gif Everyone was friendly and had a great time. I guess all the "stuffy ones" went to Quartzite. It seems like Dav5942 was better off he didn't sign up for the NKK Rally there. Paul

Dav5942 01-23-2007 07:07 PM

Didn't sign up as we did not know if we would make it-as it was we arrived the last two days thinking we would meet some other Newmar owners but they had a closed off area. Was able to talk to both Newmar and Spartan service reps who were quite helpful.

They do have closed of area's and if you didn't pay its a no go. http://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...icon_frown.gif They also like to see their numbers on face of MH over driver side to know your a member. I never put mine on coach. http://irv2.infopop.cc/images/nono.gif

dave5942 STUFFY thats the word I was looking for. Mostly around town center. Too many rules to have been 5 Mi from town and in middle of dessert. In the rank and file we met a lot of new friends. Numbers or not paid or not we were just a group of campers wanting to have a good time with each other and met new people. our others Newmar rallys were more relaxed. Same good people and goals. STUFFY yep thats the word

I joined the NKK but, didn't renew after the first year. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

Dale, the NKK certainly might not be your cup of tea,but they do try and have a little something for everyone...
While I'm certainly "younger" than many of the other retired and "sem-retired" folks I've met in recent weeks, I did enjoy meeting them and spending some time with them.

I'm planning on getting involved more with a local chapter and looking forward to caravaning to Gilette,WY with them and attending a pre-rally before the NKK National there in June.

While in Tampa, I had the opportunity of sitting down with some of the "National" folks with the Newmar Kountry Klub and "pitched" an idea of their involvement in this web site's Newmar Owner's Forum. I know they've visited here and I hope they'll be able to mention our site in the next "Konnection" magazine.

I also look forward to pursuing the idea with the corporate folks in Nappanee as far as even the manufacturer having some involvement in this site.

On another note,I look forward to seeing you in July at the iRV2 National Rally.
