Towing Jeep GC Overland

Just curious. Is anyone towing one of these with the V-8 behind a Workhorse 8.1 gasser with the Allison 6 speed? I'm looking forward to busting the "Cherry" on mine. But how is the towing, hills, downgrades etc? I know it will be different that the 3000lb Subaru that I had before

You do know there is a towing weight limit on your coach of 5000#. I pull 3500# and have the same engine and tranny and and a smaller coach and sometimes it gets 'interesting' going up hill. I've been going as slow as 35 mph over Mount Eagle in Tennessee and it's only 3000 ft or so. Downhill is OK and I love the grade mode on the tranny.:)

Joe
Possibly you should consider the Banks System and UltraPower Chip. The Subaru that I had before weighed nearly as much as what you are towing. I have never had any problem pulling a hill. Even going over the Rockies into Montana. The Allison is great too.
Now with the Ford V-10 I had before I would have never upgraded like that. Of course I'm aware of the weight.

Did you take my advice and check out the Banks and Ultrapower? I'm sure it would solve your problems of having a Voyage with no power!

All I can say Bruce is that pig of yours (and mine :) ) weighs in @ a portly 5,200 lbs!

time to put them on a diet Fritz!!! I figure cutting some fat like all the extra chrome, the neat floor mats, the overweight fullsize spare tire, and a few other things, we should have a skinny vehicle!
