What mine was doing (before I replaced a bad converter) was it would run about 15 to 20 minutes with air conditioners running and then the gen would stop running and of course the air shut down also.

I would just take the fuel line off where it attaches to the carburetor and run the hose to something like a coffee can and try to start the generator. If fuel comes out of hose it is not your pump....
