Sounds like a breaker went out or a protection circuit tripped. Have you tried doing a power off reset. Power your righ down for about 2 minutes, then power up and see if that fixed it.

A key factor I find for gas mileage is speed. Slow down to your sweet spot. Nothing wrong with throwing all your tricks at it. 10 mpg is not an unreasonable target.
