I'm the same way and really, who am I racing against? While there there are hitches out there that might be more convenient to use it only takes a few seconds more and I'll be on my way too.

Since its steel-on-steel friction that's part of the design and needed to reduce sway wouldn't it be counter productive to apply grease to the friction points?
