OP please clarify one thing


When the dewinterizing/drain was being done was MH plugged into a 120V AC source?


If yes......why was water being heated
If no.......electric element wasn't energized so no harm/no foul

Yes, my husband plugged it into shore power AFTER he drained the tank and winterized it. I had left the toggle electric hot water switch in the “on” position after our trip last weekend. [emoji17]

Yes, Fleetwood Service confirmed yesterday that pulling it out is the only way to change the Element.

I think we may just run it on gas for our winter trip down south, as we confirmed that the gas is functioning just fine. Then I believe we’ll replace the water heater with a new model when we’re at the Decatur facility in May......and hopefully be ok for the next 10+ years. This water heater is 15 years old.

YES the element was dry fired so it is toast


New model doesn't gain you anything
Element STILL on backside
Plus it uses just one set of t-stats so if you have an issue with t-stats/circuit board etc then NEITHER heat source will function
