Stair Light

Hi, we just purchased a 2013 Venture Sport Trek ST230VBH (Made by KZ)

There is a light at the top of the stairs attached to the frame, I can not locate a switch
to turn on this light ? Tried the outdoor light and it still does not come on, bulb looks ok.

Any suggestions ? Any information on how this light is activated ?

First welcome to the group Mike. Extra knowledge is always handy.

First I'd check the light socket with a meter. Is this at the entry steps? Some of those are activated by opening the entry door. Or it may be activated by other outdoor lights? As with any coach that is new, it takes a while to figure out everything. Good Luck!!!

My new vibe has a light on the steps. It comes on when I turn the outside lights on.

My Jayco had the light and it comes on when I flip the outdoor light switch. Both the little one under the stairs and the one just to the left of the door come on together with the switch. I'd test it with a meter or try swapping the bulb just to be sure

Two ideas;
1. to help locate the switch you use a tone generator like used to trace phone cables. Disconnect shore power and the battery ground first, the attach the two alligator clips of the tone generator to the light's contacts and use the sensor to locate the other end. These are not too expensive at the box stores.

2. I added a few feet of LED light strip in parallel to the existing stair light. It makes a day and night difference seeing on the steps, pun intended.
