1997 Holiday Rambler-addition of inverter/charger
Hello. Just purchased a 1997 Holiday Rambler Endeavor LE-37CDS. We are very excited and are making preparations for a 5500 mile road trip. The coach has been neglected for the past few years by the owner and we are in the process of updating and upgrading some of the systems.
That being said this coach was not equipped with a factory installed inverter charger. I am trying to figure out how to add one myself. I am pretty hands on but I don't have a lot of knowledge about replacing the current converter/charger unit with something like a magnum or Xantrex inverter charger.
Maybe there is someone out there who faced a similar situation with this coach? My problem is that the current converter/charger is located in the compartment next to the batteries, the transfer switch is located next to the 50A cord on the other side of the coach, and the panel with breakers is located inside the kitchen area of the coach. The current converter is plugged in to an outlet in the compartment it is in.
All the wiring diagrams I have been looking at seem to put in a sub panel and such. I am guessing its not a simple swap?? I couldn't just remove the converter/charger and replace it with an inverter/charger. I have seen pics of units that did have the option installed and they were put in the same compartment next to the house batteries seemingly replacing the converter charger. Not sure how to proceed since everything is so spread out over the coach and fishing wires seems like a monumental pain......doable but a pain. Looking for any input from someone who has faced a similar situation.
Also, I am not sure what the difference is between the dual input, dual output or dual input single output inverter chargers is? Which one would I need etc. Any help would be appreciated. I will try and post pictures later of each location.
