Do you use RV Trip Wizard
Like many of you, we save a website and don't go back to it again for long enough that we forget what it is. I was going through some of mine in a folder called "RV Education" and came upon one called "RV Trip Wizard". I opened it and ran the demo and thought it either works great or is a lot about nothing. In as much as it comes with an annual cost of $39.00 I thought it best to call in reinforcements. By they way, you are the reinforcements!
Do you use it? And if so is it easy to use, up to date and gives good and correct information? It apparently is not a GPS which surprises me a little because you'd think with all the information it shows that it would be!
What say you reinforcements? And remember its $39.00 and I'll have to flip some burgers to make that happen. Either that or get into my wife's purse. Nope, thats just too terrifying to think what I could find in there?

I use it for trip planning and finds it works well. They recently had a major upgrade and the new version has many improvements. In my opinion, it's worth $39 a year.

How does it compare with Del. Street Atlas?
I TOO have thought about RV Trip Wizard, but I am wondering: what is it like?
I had tried MS Streets & Trips(?) but I had a hard time making it out.
I have used Street Atlas for several years, and I LIKE it, but now it is "Dead to Us ALL" to quote Mr. Wonderful. Petewwy! I am too old to keep learning how to operate yet ANOTHER mapping program!
Any suggestions? Comparisons?
Thanks!

Hi Jim and thanks,
It's not a GPS right? And how about ease of setup? When you sit down to input information is it a hassle or pretty straight forward? Now that I'm looking at extended trips an actual planner sounds like a good idea. Especially one that will show where the things we use most are located.
It shows restaurants, fuel, Walmart's, rest stops, RV parks etc right? Oh, and how bad is it on bandwidth? I currently use a GPS app with off line maps. But I guess if this is not a GPS you'd not have it running all the time would you?
Oh and one last question, Can you select the places fuel etc you want shown?

Hi Mike,
You were posting as I was and you're right! We don't need a steep learning curve do we? I don't know why they have to build these thing like a crazy person? I think its built by engineer types who feel it works great for them so it has to work for the masses as well!
The problem is too many of the masses are morons like me. Put these things out to we morons before going to the unsuspecting public. We'd all be better for it and they would make more money for making something we can really use.
Morons Revolt...

I tried it and did not like it. Still use MS Streets and Trips 2013 with the POI Mega File add on.

It's satisfaction guaranteed...
I purchased it...had all kinds of problems with that particular version...driving speed computations...rescaling...lockups, tried my Laptop and iPad both. Great concept...unfortunately, too buggy for my enjoyment. They refunded my full purchase price.
When they get the issues resolved...it will be/is a great planning tool. I have not tried the latest version which was recently announced. I know the speed /driving time computation was reportedly fixed.
Great people...working on a fantastic planning tool.

Hey Red,
The problems you had, was it with an older version or the current one version 5?
Charlie, it sounds like you were happy with their customer service? That's a big deal with me! At very least talk to me and try to help. That's a big deal.

You are correct, it is not a GPS. I use my Garmin for that. IMHO it is a good trip planner that you can customize to your needs. It will show campgrounds along your route of course. but also available are all sorts of POI's you can choose, such as fuel, restaurants, attractions, etc. I try to fuel at Pilot when available so I have it show me Pilot locations along my planned route. I like that I can decide how many hours or miles I want to drive on any given day which helps me in advance planning. I don't think the learning curve is that difficult an believe its a good tool for advance planning a trip.

I used it to plan a 9 week trip. It shows distance between your last selection and the next stop you are looking for which is helpful if you only want to drive a certain distance each day. When one of the sites we had chosen had already filled up before we could make our reservation, it was very easy to look for a different location nearby.
As for gas, we used Gas Buddy on the road. That way we were looking at current gas prices and could better plan on where to stop.

I was looking at a couple reviews and it brings up another question. Is 100% of the trip planning on line and if so do you find times when its not available?
Can you download a trip you've saved?

Harry,
You can download trips you have planned and print the entire trip plus you can also print turn by turn directions. I don't have an issue with it being internet based since I do my trip planning in advance. Also, I have a Verizon hotspot and have never been without internet service.

Thanks Jim,
Have you set up a trip and then sent it to a GPS? I use CoPiolet RV and I'm curious how it sets up with another program. And is it seamless or takes some modification?
Harry
