2004 Holiday Rambler Neptune

I have a club member that has the Diesel Neptune. He said he did not have chassis batteries. He only has four batteries and cannot not get the proper connections. He forgot to mark the connections when he unhooked them. I thought he would have to have chassis batteries.

He has to have chassis batteries, how does it start, run, and drive?
He should look online for the wiring diagram. They are available.
What kind of batteries is he trying to buy? 6v or 12 v?
