2 Questions regarding 2009 Holiday Rambler Scepter 42PDQ
My dealer wants to sell me a 2009 Holiday Rambler Scepter 42PDQ. What kind of fuel mileage will that coach get and given the 42 foot length is it hard to find camp grounds

Mileage depends on the power plant and what you might be towing. Assuming that at 42' it is a diesel 8-10MPG is a good ball park figure.
Campgrounds aren't usually a problem but a little research can prevent problems. Sites like Reviews of RV Parks and Campgrounds - RV Park Reviews will have reviews that might include something like "sites are tight" or "the road is narrow for a class A". Giving the CG a call works too. If you are still worried looking for a CG with pull through sites helps.
Good luck with the deal.

We have friends with a similar make and model. Their MH has a 425 hp Cummins ISL (8.9L). They average a shade under 8 mpg driving around 60, sometimes a bit faster. No problems with CGs.

With the TAG raised, should be pretty close to the turning radius of a long gasser (35-38'). Unfortunately, most toll booths on the East Coast charge per axle.

Purchased mine in February 2014. 2009 HR scepter 42pdq with 62,000 miles on it. It's a big rig NP getting sites. Getting 8.5 mpg towing 2014 CRV running at 75 mph on I95

Mileage will also depend a lot on where the coach is mostly used. Flat land or mountains.

Nice rig, expect around 8 mpg with a toad, less climbing.

MPG would be very low on my list of concerns of a rig that expensive in a pre-purchase mode.
If all ok after your pre purchase inspections, it should be a great rig.

I have a 2007 imperial 42 foot with a 400 cummins and 7.5 mpg is about average. Campgrounds no problem.

Whether campgrounds are a problem or not depends where you go. It may well be that the cg's you presently use do not have many (or any) sites big enough for a 42 footer, or access roads that are adequate for it. Heck, I know of cgs where anything over 24 feet is tight! But that doesn't mean that all campgrounds are that way and there are plenty that can easily accomodate 42 footers.
