OUR Newmar 5th Wheelers Group & 2011 5th Wheels
Dexter 5th wheel axel information. ------ How to grease axle.
We just purchased a 2005 Mountain Aire fiver. We have been looking for a good one for several years and this is it! I will be going to VA to pick it up in 2 weeks.
Looking through the forum it seems the majority of posts concern MHs instead of FWs. Are there other Mountain Aire fiver owners on the forum?

Hi Dennis, Congrat's on your purchase. The MA 5er is a very nice unit. I'm sure there are other owners here, but I guess they are so trouble free we don't here much or a flury of MH action has been front and center lately.
Have a good trip and enjoy.
Peter

Congratulations on the new fiver. You'll find the Newmar quality to be excellent. We've never had a fifth wheel, but I understand the Mountain Aire is one of the heavier ones. This is probably due to all the solid hard wood and other amenities. Might be something you'll want to take a close look at.
IRV2 also has a forum dedicated to trailers and fifth wheels. You may want to take a look at it. See: http://irv2.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/cfrm/f/3746022452
Take care and enjoy. I'm sure you'll love it.
Jack

Hi Dennis. I hang out over as well as Escapees and you are correct there are not many Newmar Fifth wheelers who post on here. In fact I think I am maybe one of two or three. Great bunch over here and the national rally was a lot of fun last year. Looking forward to this years in Branson.

Hey Dennis, I made you fiver guys the TOP of the list!!
That ought to keep you guys from sliding down in the topics and will give you guys the ability to have somewhere to catch up with other owners of Newmar fifth wheels...
WELCOME to the forum and we look forward to hearing more from you?
As I am from Virginia I'm curious as to what dealer here in Virginia you purchased from?

Jack,
Yup, it's heavy - 20k GVRW and over 16k empty. No problem towing it though, take a look at my signature.
Bob,
Bought it from Commonwealth Boat Brokers in Richmond. It was a repossesed unit. I went out and looked at it on Monday and it looks like it has never been used!
First stop after the trip home will be my local Newmar dealer to have it checked out completely.

Glad to see you've got a vehicle more than capable of handling the weight. I get really nervous with people trying to tow a big fiver with too small a truck.

Dennis,
I am one of the other Newmar 5er drivers on this forum. Like you I picked my unit up on it's rebound from a previous owner (used only two nights, never towed except from the factory to where it was sitting).
You've got a heavy unit but you've got THE truck. Go for it!
I have been in my Kountry Star since 03 and clocked a little over 20K miles. While my KS is not as high end as your MA, they are both built with the same good engineering. My only knock on my unit is that the wall covering is buckling top to bottom and end to end. I waited too late to take action and my warranty expired so I am living with it. Keep an eye on yours and don't let it go if it starts to show signs of bubbling.

Just wanted to put in our 2 cents worth! We have a 2006 Newmar Cypress, a 35' Fifth Wheel that we purchased in spring 2005. We have seen many others at shows and believe we found the perfect RV for us! The quality of workmanship as well as the many extras that are standard equipment have sold us on Newmar! The factory service department is top rate as well. We'll be at the Fulltimers Rally in Hermosa SD in June, as well as the International Rally in Gillette WY and look forward to meeting others who feel as we do about Newmar. (Towing with a Ford F350 diesel dually...)
