Spring Break 2021 Trip to Dauphin Island

Normally I like to daily blog updates but this time I was busy and worked on it each night but will post as 1 long story. I hope you enjoy our trip.

PART 3

I decide to write this to hopefully someone else can see how amazingly easy this task is. Start to finish 2 hours, 2 people 1 ladder.

17 and 18 pics are here for opening the case and finding the plug

19. UNPLUG THE UNIT

20. Remove the temp sensor, it simply pushes into the coil . Be very careful not to damage this. Make note of sensor location so you can reinstall it in similar location in new unit
21. Set new unit in place...

Front HVAC Swap and general maintenance on 2014 Fleetwood Discovery 40G 6-2017 PART 1

Posted 06-21-2021 at 02:12 PM by MEWright

Part 1 of 3 due to limit of picutres per post

Our front AC went out at the end of the season last year. Due to covid, non-use and general lack of caring I never got around to taking it in to the shop. I did have a mobile company come out and diagnose it as “A Dead Soldier” and not worth trying to fix. They also told me that to do a proper write up for it to qualify for warranty they would charge 400 and take it off the bill when I did the repair. The shops I call wanted upwards of...

VA Trip Days 3-10

Posted 12-13-2019 at 04:54 PM by MEWright

11/24/2019
Day 3

Well I called it pretty spot on in the last blog. We got out at 9am not 10 as predicted. Hit the road with absolutely no intentions of stopping other than to pee. We have to stop since I am the only driver. Drove straight into VA without incident until…… The traffic in this state is ridiculous and the drivers are bizarre. We got stuck in 3, no lie, 3, count them 1 , 2 , 3 wrecks that caused the entire freeway to be SHUT DOWN. Seriously I lost my mind at the...

Jellystone Park, Kerrville Texas

Posted 10-16-2019 at 08:30 AM by MEWright

Trip to Jellystone Park in Kerrville Texas for a 4-day weekend.

The kids had a 4-day weekend, so we ran about 2 hours south to Kerrville Texas to stay at Jellystone Park on the Guadalupe River. We have stayed at this park before, but they have added a lot of stuff, increased the size, water slides, more cabins more park.
My daughter invited her friend to come with us and this was the first trip with a friend to join. My wife and I, 2 kids, 2 dogs meant a full bus. The trip...

Pacebend Park, Spicewood Texas (outside of Austin)

Posted 09-29-2019 at 07:18 PM by MEWright

This was a great trip for us. Pacebend is about 10 minutes from our house but it was the first time we have ever taken the coach there. A friend has a yearly party that is over a long weekend and they all have rental units delivered. We decided to take the coach instead of just running home each night. Turned out this was a great way to play.

I drove to the park several months prior to the event to make sure our 40G would fit in the spots.

Trip to Fort Collins

Posted 05-29-2019 at 03:47 PM by MEWright

We left Austin with no major issues headed to Amarillo TX. Made it away from the house without forgetting anything. Planed on boondocking in a Walmart in Amarillo TX. My brother and I switching drivers, wife and daughter riding shotgun and co-co pilot respectively. About an hour out of Amarillo, my lead co pilot informs us that “we” have located a RV park on I40 that had after hours check in, spots open and we would not be boondocking at Walmart, rather we would be at Oasis RV Park for 59ish dollars...

Its time to hit the road, making last minute repairs/service

Posted 05-12-2019 at 10:35 AM by MEWright
Updated 05-12-2019 at 07:55 PM by MEWright (added new information)

Last year before we put her away for the season we had a few items that needed repairs and in true fashion, I put the off until 2 days before we leave for Colorado for a week.
1. Level jack alarm would sound when turning ,,, Low fluid easy fix. Check and done
2. On the way home on our last trip we drug the front nose on a low driveway. No body damage but we broke the gennie latch clean off.

After looking into many different options I decided...

Decision to NOT take the coach!

Posted 02-20-2019 at 07:45 AM by MEWright

We planned a trip for the presidents day weekend to run up to Durango Colorado and get some skiing in. Nice long weekend, great for a quick trip.

Dilema;
Take the coach or drive and get a hotel each way???

16 Hours drive in my truck 18 in the coach.
75-85mph in the truck, 65-70mph in the coach
12.8 MPG in the truck - 8MPG in the coach
Additional fuel over hotel costs???
Weather????

We decided to drive my truck and...

First winter, first time to winterize

Posted 01-27-2019 at 07:39 PM by MEWright

Well its wintertime in Texas. For those elsewhere that means we will have days like today at 70F then in a week it will be in the Teens.

About a month ago I drained everything thinking (100% incorrectly ) that this would be enough to get us through the winter if I kept the heat on. We had a pretty good freeze early.

Pretty sure this is why the HWH bypass valve failed.

Replaced the HTH Bypass valve then went online and bought some stuff on Amazon..I...

Holy c*%p the learning curve is getting steep

Posted 12-30-2018 at 07:51 PM by MEWright

When we got the coach a few months ago we did the usual walk through "Tour" then we were waved goodbye.

I had a pretty good idea of the depth of the pool I had just jumped in, I knew the water temp and thought I could recognize the hazards..

I remember this like it was yesterday, (For those with a Fleetwood Discovery you may want to take notice here),

During the new owner walk through, I was shown how to open the pull out for the generator....
