What does 208rv TMI mean?

208 was, until recently, the area code for the entire state of Idaho. I will assume you know what RV stands for. TMI is text/slang for "Too Much Information". I often overshare and after 30 years, my wife has finally started to get used to that and my other character flaws.

For this initial blog post, I would like to explain how we came to own our 2003 Safari Zanzibar 40' Class A DP and where we are headed.

When I got out of the Army, some 38 years ago, I vowed never to work for anyone else but myself. I tried a number of ventures including buying a tractor and trailer and becoming an over-the-road trucker. It was good money but a lonely life.

In those days, there were no cell phones, emails or even a publicly available internet. Back then we had calling cards. They allowed you to charge long distance calls to your home phone bill. At that time, Dori (now my wife) was my friend. She was my confidant and therapist. My monthly phone bills back in 1987 were over $900 a month from talking to her every day for hours at a time.

I will stop here and continue the story in the next chapter / post. I am writing this story for my own benefit, but if anyone reading this has any feedback, good or bad - I would love to hear it.

**Believe it or not this is the story of how we came to own a Class A Motorhome and why we are committed to becoming full-time RV Nomads.

Readers will have a much clearer understanding in the next installment.

Until then: "Keep your shiny side up and your dirty side down!"**

Getting Married

Posted 03-22-2023 at 07:05 AM by 208rv (208rv TMI)

Although we never dated, we were married in 1993. That is another story for another time. I knew that all of my buddies that were successful in the trucking industry had failed in their home life, so I came off the road. Dori already had three kids when we married and when she became pregnant with our first child, I started changing careers in order to be home more. Every change that gave me more time with my wife and family cut my income by 50% or more. I was happy...and broke. Lucky for us, both...
