After zipping thru Louisianna, Mississippi and Alabama, then into northern Florida, we got to Jacksonville for Thanksgiving with the remaining family a day early. Today we left Fort Stockton, Texas heading south east just past San Antonio. We hit alot more mountains in Texas than we remember being here. Trying to get across the state of Texas, no matter what you are driving is an adventure not for the weak. the state is so big that day after day you wake up in the same state. We now have some bad weather to fight. There is a large bad weather front upon us. We are planning on checking the reports first thing in the A.M. and deciding just how far we will drive tomorrow. We just want to stay behind the worst weather and follow it...

Yesterday we planned on offroading somewhere near the RV park in the desert. We got to the location given to us by the RV park manager and tried the first hill only
to find that it had soft sand and our tires had too much air to grip. After trying several hills we decided to just drive around on a little firmer and not as steep
hills. Nice views overlooking the Colorado River.

The trip on Sunday from San Francisco south to Lemoore Naval Air Station took a little longer than expected. The sky s were perfect and the weather was gorgeous. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s and the lows at night in the 50s. We've been told that this isn't normal and California is just showing off for us.

Today we find ourselves on an expedition to San Francisco. We left the RV park in Vacaville, Ca about 9:00 to head for the bay area. The drive took about 1 1/2 hours.

Betcha thought we fell off the face of the earth....You're not getting off that easy. We have started our journey back home. The cold and rainy Portland weather has finally gotten to us. It not only goes right thru your bones but becomes very depressing. Traveling feels just right. It's not that we didn't really enjoy our visit with the daughter and the grandkids, we are ready for the adventure to continue.

We have returned to the Seattle area from our journey to Canada. While Vancouver was pretty cool, the trip up to the west side of the Canadian Rockies was quite an adventure. We were searching for an offroading place and truly didn't find one per say. But what we did find was a gravel road up the mountains. So here we are now just outside of Seattle. We are technically near Port Orhard, which is close to Bremerton, where I was born. (Trish)...
We drove up here from Portland yesterday. Now it's time to continue our trip on up to Canada. We plan on seeing Vancouver then Victoria on Vancouver Island. Don't think we will take the RV across the sound on the ferry. Probably just leave it at some secure place and take the jeep over for a few days of sight seeing....

We are really sorry that we haven't been able to blog most of the trip across country. Most of the time we didn't have wifi. All in all, the trip was quite uneventful. We managed to make if from Tampa to Portland in about 7 1/2 days. Tawnya helped her dad with the driving duties which made it much easier on him since we were trying to put in 8-10 hours driving time a day. Traveling all the way across country with a 5 month old baby and a full grown lab ...

We have made it to St Louis on day 3 of the trip…. We decided to go to the Cahokia RV Parque again where we stayed back in May on our earlier journey this year. Last night we stopped just south of Chattanooga, TN. without WIFI, thus no BLOG… The trip is going well, with the exception of one fussy 5 month old. Today we embarked on the 2014.2 portion of our trip this year. It is to be known as .2 because it is the continuation of the yearly trip. We originally left Tampa on May 14th to head up the Mississippi Valley into Canada via Sault St Marie thru northern Michigan. We stopped in East St Louis, Illinois to find where my dad (Paul Dunn) was born. Then on to Canada, were we planned on... stopping in Buckingham, Ontario to see the Anglican Church my great uncle Edward Joyce help...

Today we are just hanging out at Bill's cousin Susan's place in Fair Haven, Ct. He has decided to do some honeydo projects to help her out and to keep himself busy.
I, on the other hand plan on updating the blog and to get caught up on some banking projects.
I guess the main plans for the next few days are to prepare for the Fourth of July BBQ here at Susan's. I am going to stop by the store to pick up the potato salad...
