It’s Showtime!

Posted 12-02-2009 at 05:10 AM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)
Updated 12-03-2009 at 06:16 PM by DriVer

I started off my day by getting up and having breakfast and gathering up my stuff that I was going to take with me to the show. Full of anticipation I gave Colleen a kiss and patted Roxy on the head and made my way outside. The first thing that I saw that greeted me was that my windshield was frosted over and I didn’t have an ice scraper. I put my stuff in the car, started the engine and kicked in the defroster and went back inside to check eMail and grab a second cup of coffee.

Final Approach – Great Expectations

Posted 11-30-2009 at 08:21 PM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)
Updated 11-30-2009 at 09:57 PM by DriVer

We woke up this morning with the sound of rain pitter patting on the roof. There isn’t any type of sleep medication that works any better for me than rain falling on the RV roof. I don’t know what it is but my brain tells me to go back to sleep but not this morning.

I got dressed, had breakfast and went outside, in the rain, to begin picking up the connections. First thing coming around the nose of the RV is I stepped in a camouflaged puddle in the grass and soaked my socks. I wear...

The Best Laid Plans ....

Posted 11-29-2009 at 03:19 PM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)
Updated 12-03-2009 at 08:42 PM by DriVer

What a nice day it was today to travel in our RV!

It didn't start off that way, but it did get better much better as soon as we cranked up the rig and put her nose in the wind.

I am writing this from the Baileyton RV Park in Baileyton, TN. We're right off Interstate 81. We got here at about a quarter to four. Right now the sky is all ablaze in its Tennessee sundown splendor and the night is settling in. Right now it's 55 degrees here and bug free. This evening we may...

Stand By To Get Underway

Posted 11-28-2009 at 09:24 PM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)

We just came off the road in October so it hasn't been a long time since our motorhome has been sitting on its pad waiting for our next outing. Even when the motorhome sits around for just a few short weeks things need looking at and tending to.

I checked my supplies and found that I needed some oil so what do I elect to do, go out on Black Friday to the Wal*Mart here in Conway and go and pickup 2 quarts of motor oil. When I got there I was shocked to find empty parking spots close...

Windows 7 - Install Completed

Posted 11-22-2009 at 10:10 AM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)
Updated 11-22-2009 at 10:38 AM by DriVer

It didn't take as long as I expected probably due to the speed of the machine that this OS was installed on. By 11:30 or thereabouts the install was competed.

Toward the bottom of the Upgrade Processes Screen it indicated that 397093 out of 397093 was completed. I believe this number to be in MB.

The machine restarted for the 1st time and it presented the new Windows 7 logo. After a few seconds it said, "Windows is preparing the computer for its first use"....

Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade

Posted 11-21-2009 at 07:10 PM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)
Updated 11-21-2009 at 08:09 PM by DriVer

My DW has been so bummed out about having to run her HP DV2000 over Windows Vista Home Premium that she just about drug me to the store to get her a copy of Windows 7 (W7). Now this is from Col the non-computer expert; "I heard that Windows 7 is better" OK so there ya go! That means that she wants W7.

Her machine is a Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo T5550 Processor w/ 2 MB of L2 cache. The machine has 3GB of RAM and a 250GB 5400 RPM HD. She likes her 14.1" display,...

Myrtle Beach Will Feature 1 Mile Long Boardwalk

Posted 11-17-2009 at 01:35 PM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)
Updated 11-17-2009 at 05:51 PM by DriVer

The Best Mile on the Beach construction project is underway and is moving right along. Pile driving machines are installing telephone pole sized posts at close intervals and you can actually see that work progressing on the construction cams.

Artist's rendering of the Boardwalk

Colleen and I toured the area yesterday in the beautiful weather. The sun was out and the temperatures were in the 70s....

OK are you ready for this? Coffee Pot installation #3!
.
Black & Decker - Spacemaker - Model SDC740 - 12 cup.

Yes only on my rig would you see anyone go through 3 coffee machines but we love our morning coffee. Brief history, the original B&D unit started leaking and we couldn’t get any replacement parts for the water valves so we had to put it out of commission.

Head On A Swivel ....

Posted 05-25-2009 at 09:54 AM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)
Updated 05-25-2009 at 04:42 PM by DriVer

According to Jean Cernan, The average cell phone has more technology than the Apollo capsule that flew to the moon and back. Now that said, I wonder if I can view that in comparison to our motorhome.

Paying attention to what's going on outside the front window while scanning the mirrors for what's on your six could be exhausting at the end of the day for a lot of drivers.

Now add a technology layer to driving and it isn't all that uncommon to have most or more of the...

On The Road Again .....

Posted 05-24-2009 at 07:12 PM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)

Our motorhome is sitting out on the pad here at our home in Conway, SC and we are making preparations to get underway to Richmond, VA next weekend to attend the FMCA Great Eastern Area Rally. This will be our second visit to the Richmond International Speedway to support the GEAR and we expect to be in the same parking facility. Quite surprisingly we have a good 30A circuit, water, and a sewer connection on our site.

Last year we didn't bring our 08 Vue because we had basically...
