Ready to travel! Wait.

Posted 11-08-2023 at 12:31 AM by miwok

This has been the year for planning and repairs.
After some surgeries I am in recovery mode, yet even so I cannot keep from repairing or improving some of the camper!
New faucet in the bath sink, repair kitchen leaky faucet, new bed blinds (day/night) and repair some latches, new light and more LED bulbs, and it is ready to travel for the fall or winter?
I am seeing some electrical glitches, so tracing fuses and wires to get anything I can.. popped a fuse, why? Hmm
New...

waiting for spring After Covid

Posted 03-07-2022 at 03:08 PM by miwok

It is March 2022 and we maybe have lived thru the most crazy time in our lives yet, losing friends to cancer, old age, and accidents. AND the other thing.
We are ready to get going and now prices for fuels has gone crazy.
So grand excursions may turn into shorter trips and still there are a lot on the list. Have a good year!

Winter 2019-20

Posted 12-24-2019 at 10:05 AM by miwok

I have made the step to winter in Florida, and I have the opportunity to do it where my mom had a mobile home for many years.
While a friendly place and active, I am close to a railroad track that runs all hours of the day and night. The freeway is also half a mile away, and an overpass ensures traffic noise will carry at night..
Wish I was on the road, this is as bad as motels used to be, you never know what you are going to get. I can see why people go to the same place every year,...

Winter in Ohio

Posted 01-15-2019 at 10:59 AM by miwok

While the Camper is ready to drive it is not ready in other areas. Since I am new to the systems on this and campers in general, I am preferring to have a Service Place do the checking of the propane, heat, and Water to make sure it is up to date and ready.

Meanwhile I have removed the radio, GPS and am upgrading them if possible. Everything is at least ten years old!
I am using some propane heaters in the storage unit until the freeze is off.

Winterize?

Posted 10-22-2018 at 09:27 AM by miwok

I am warned to winterize before it gets cold, and have some indoor storage lined up, yet it is about that time of year, and the cold is coming! If it were ready for camping, I would be gone for warmer weather!

Still replacing things like smoke detectors, and trying to understand the systems.. Steep learning curve for someone so ignorant!

Grilliot's for Services

Posted 09-21-2018 at 10:27 AM by miwok

I have a tire replacement and alignment going on, and they found a cracked brake rotor, so it will sit a couple weeks until they get it back in schedule. Heater hoses also run from front to rear, and they found a raceway to pull them thru, thankfully.

My old fleet experience comes back to help me now, as I remember the buses and troubles they had 25 years ago, appropriate for a guy who bought a 25 year old coach!

I had no idea they had such complete services...

Start of a new adventure

Posted 07-05-2018 at 04:10 PM by miwok

The first purchase of a motorhome, indeed, a camper since I lived in one for a couple years when I was 15.

It is a Pace Arrow (by Fleetwood) 1993 Cummins/Allison 6 spd on an Oshkosh chassis. Owned by a construction Company founder, and garaged and maintained for him by the family.

There is so much on this coach, and I am starting my journey to get it serviced and running, since most of the last four years it was in the garage. It runs well, and most lights and things work,...
