Wow, where have the years gone. My last blog was about my beloved Springer Spaniel Sam passing away, and since then we have had 2 more pass away, and picked up 2 in their place. In addition, a job change and a move necessitated selling our coach in 2016, and we have been trying to find our way back into RVing ever since.
In 2020, we moved again to what I hope is our final home, with enough property for the dogs and a driveway suitable for a motorhome. In 2021, I went back out into...

Sam, our eldest Springer Spaniel passed away last week. At 14.5 years old he lived a long and happy life, and I wanted to tell you a little about him. Sam was our first field bred Springer; a little larger, stronger and higher energy than a show spaniel, with a shorter coat. We almost didn't get him as we were looking for a female. But this male kept following us around the farm and would not leave us alone. "That's Tuffy" the farmer said, "follows me everywhere". The name...

Well, it's been a few weeks since we got back from the Grand Curiosity at Catherine's Landing. The short story, we had fantastic time, met a lot of really nice, diverse and very interesting people, ate a lot of bacon, drank an awful lot of beer & in general just ran amuck in the campground. We also got destroyed by racquetball sized hail, and saw the best in everyone come out as all pitched in to one extent or another to help each other out.
Some more details if you're not bored...

Well, with 3 weeks to go until GC 1.2, Harvey's in the shop! I had a problem with it temporarily overheating during our trip to Key West and it turns out that the dreaded Horton fan clutch is the culprit. The shop has the unit and will install it next week. Our warranty should pay for most of it, but I will still be out at least the $500 deductible. Glad that I will not have to worry about that on the 2,400 mile trip though.
As far as the beer goes, the Pilsner is done and I will...

Is it only me, or is time flying by for you too? We just got back from Key West and I have 9 weeks to get everything together for the upcoming get together in Arkansas (GC 1.2). I had to re-winterize Harvey (uhg) but this time I used compressed air and just filled the traps with RV antifreeze, so it will be much easier to turn everything back on. I have gone both ways (antifreeze or blow out the lines) and with a full flow fitting and the big compressor I have, I just set the regulator to 60...

Well, we just got our first sprinkling of snow, just about 2 inches so no big deal, but it is really priming me for Key West. Just 9 more days till we head down. Of bigger concern is our 13 year old Springer, Sam. He's really gotten old in the past 6 months and with the spate of beloved pets passing away recently, I hope that he hangs on through one more summer.
As far as other things are going, the Czech Pilsner came out great, and I decided to brew an old favorite for GC 1.2 in...

I can't believe that December is here already. Another 3 weeks and the days will start getting longer again. I also just bottled a batch of Czeck Pilsner, so that will be ready for New Years. Tastes good already and it has not had a chance to bottle condition. Should be another winner. Next up is a Gluten-free Ale for GC Redux 1.2 in April. That will give me time to brew up another recipe if the first one doesn't do well.
Seems like I just got done winterizing Harvey, and in just...

11/2/14 - Hi and welcome to my blog. I'm not big on this social media stuff, but I do like connecting with people who have similar interests. My wife (of 34 years) and I love to go camping, if you can call it that in a 39' all equipped motorhome. In our defense, when we were young we did go camping in a popup, so we do have a point of reference.
One of the main reasons that made us consider a motorhome is our 4 Springer Spaniels. We have had 10 dogs so far, and cannot imagine not having...
