Home in Eugene for Xmas

Posted 12-23-2017 at 03:06 PM by bassgirl

Continuing my winter-holiday visit home to see the kids & grandbaby and to alleviate my homesickness a bit, I've been hanging out in the Cloud here in Eugene for a few days and I'm just happy as a clam in here. The kids and my hometown friends are 100% in agreement about how cool it is- I found a sweet RV spot on airbnb (i'm a veteran airbnb'er) and have been really enjoying the country feel of the place, as well as the short drive to everything in town. I'm going to stay in Eugene probably 4 more days and hit my favorite blues jams downtown- play music with some people I haven't seen in about a year; I'm psyched for that. I've been so darn busy with Cloud setup and logistics I've hardly been playing music at all lately, and man oh MAN am I ready to change that! Looking especially forward to Rooster's Blues Jam at the Eugene Vet's Club on Tuesday- the same blues jam has been going on in this town for over 30 years! It's a great bunch of folks, really welcoming, and some very skilled blues musicians!
Thinking more about ranging further afield- my friend Marty has invited me down to Arizona, and i'm toying with the idea of a cross-country trip next year. We'll see- for now, i'm going to stay in the moment and just enjoy the heck out of this. I was sitting in the Cloud yesterday and told Eric " I just can't stop smiling!" That this totally cool thing is mine, all mine, and that so much of my blood sweat and tears (literally, ha) are ingrained in about every inch of the extensive remodel I did is just so satisfying. As is the fact that I had the goal of really wanting one of these for the past 5 years or so, and I actually went out and did it. This feels like the first time in my "single life" / my life since my husband passed away that I've consciously set a pretty ambitious goal and gone out and done all the work and succeeded at it- I've been living just reacting, as buffeted by the winds of life, but this makes me feel like i could once again be captain of my own ship. Of my own Cloud.
