2008 Saturn Vue XE - SMI Stay-In-Play DUO Installation

Posted 05-15-2011 at 11:42 AM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)
Updated 05-15-2011 at 05:34 PM by DriVer

I originally wrote this article in 2008. I am placing it here in my Blog because I believe that it might give someone the confidence to do the installation on their own regardless of which vehicle they own. The differences between this what is seen in this article and your install will only vary slightly.

2008 Saturn Vue XE - SMI Stay-In-Play DUO Installation

Finally getting around to installing my SMI DUO. So far everything is going well.

I started off...

Dewinterising - always a suprise

Posted 05-25-2011 at 02:43 PM by Janet H

I always look forward to dewinterizing the trailer... it signals the beginning of camping season. But sometimes I find 'leftovers' from last years last hurrah and invariably, they are ugly leftovers. One year there was something left in the fridge, another year some laundry forgotten and left to fester in the bottom of a bin for 6 months.

This year was no exception; I found a little surprise left over in the bathroom. Gasp...

There it was lying in wait .......

1964 Airstream Streamline Travel Car Motorhome RV

Posted 05-31-2011 at 09:18 PM by Wanabee FTer (More blogs to come)

What were the odds of spotting one of these rare vintage motorhomes in the So Cal area while we were camping at a local RV Resort. I talked briefly to the 82 year old owner, he did not know too much about the actual history of the MH but really enjoyed talking about all the upgrades and modifications he made to the rig since he purchased it in the mid 90's. It's a 1964 Travel Car built by Streamline Trailer Company. It was originally...

Park Model Trailers - the best kept secret in the RV industry today!

Posted 06-05-2011 at 09:29 AM by Zagami

I’m always amazed that when you read about the RV industry you seldom see references to Recreation Park Trailers, or park models as many dealers and owners refer to them. Park models are favorites for many people that enjoy destination camping where they will have a permanent trailer on a campsite that provides them all the enjoyment of the RV lifestyle enjoyed by other folks that enjoy it with a motorhome, travel trailer or fifth-wheel.

Park models, by law, are less than 400 square...

Fan-Tastic Vent Comes Through On 8 Year Old Fan

Posted 09-17-2011 at 05:19 PM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)
Updated 09-17-2011 at 05:32 PM by DriVer

This past week or so we went to Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach to camp with some very good friends of ours. All worked well up until the very last day.

I wanted to take a shower and naturally I would reach for the wall switch to crank up my Fantastic Fan like I always have for the past 8 years. I waited and waited but the dome never opened. The motor was indeed running but no-joy.

I toggled the wall switch to off and although I saw the wheel rotating in...

McMahon's RV Deceptive Trade Practices

Posted 10-16-2011 at 02:40 PM by Robbed
Updated 10-16-2011 at 03:39 PM by Robbed

I am writing to inform you about the conduct of McMahon’s RV. I purchased a new RV (August 15, 2011) from McMahon’s and financed the purchase with Bank of the West. I traded in a 2006 Winnebago Aspect that was financed with Ally (formerly GMAC). As part of the transaction, when the loan on the new RV funded, the trade-in was to be paid off.
This loan funded on August 16th, 2011. I believed that Bank of the West would pay off the trade-in, but I now understand that all the funds went...

A Blog for the Newbie's Newbie!

Posted 03-12-2012 at 07:22 AM by kmesaaz

To begin, I am a TOTAL newbie to motorhomes. Never drove one, camped in one, or even sat in one prior to my decision to purchase one. I don't even know anyone who owns one!

It would be a gross understatement to say that I have A LOT to learn. Hopefully, readers who are newbies, rookies, or in the "new to us" categories will find something beneficial in my posts.

Once you have researched and identified the make, model, year, features, financing, price range,...

Installing the 360 RV Universal Holding Tank Roof Vent Siphon Cap

Posted 07-14-2012 at 09:28 PM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)
Updated 07-29-2014 at 06:58 AM by DriVer

One of the most important systems on our recreational vehicles are the holding tanks. Some RVs will have multiple holding tanks and what is placed in the tanks needs to be vented for a number of reasons. If there is any pressure in a tank and a person opened a blade on a toilet, that could be a very unpleasant experience - therefore venting prevents any surprises.

Although most RVs have 2 tanks,...
