Truck Systems Technologies Provides “Easy” Solution
Posted on November 18, 2012 by Mike Pelchat
Since day one after I purchased the TST Model 507 Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TST) (TPMS), I have had to remove sensors to add air when required. On the rear duals this was not so much of a problem since the sensor was sitting on an open valve stem which is connected to a Crossfire...

There is something purely wrong in this industry...the practice of quality control during motor coach production. Regardless of manufacturer or price point, it seems that identification of quality issues continues to rely on end buyer identification of problems at and shortly after delivery. This apparently is compounded by how the manufacturers and dealers interact on these issues.
First, you can't tell me that the dealers are not aware of these issues when they deliver the coach....

Last winter we came upon the sudden realization that we were within a couple years of retirement. Now to me that was a shock as I didn't think that I was that old. My best friend and wife reminded me that I had to file for Medicare in a few months. Now that was a shock. But,,,, taking all in stride we began the planning process to ease the pain of changing to a life style that we knew nothing about.
After talking to people that had retired it didn't take long to determine that those...

How big is too big? In terms of solar systems, in my mind, it'll never be too big.
I started in 2013 with 5 Sunpower Grade B, 240w panels; a year later I added 4 Sunpower Grade A 240w panels. In summer time, it output a decent amount of electricity to charge my C-Max Energi, a plug-in hybrid as my toad, and the batteries. But in winter time, it's merely able to catch up with the demands from the house batteries for daily use, let alone with the toad.
The system had...

Well it has been a long road with many, many setbacks along the way. We were not ready to give up on RVing, our dealership or our dream.
The new Fleetwood Discovery 40g was/is so amazing.
We left on Friday night for Rockport TX, about a 4.5 hour drive from our house.
We did do the one thing that we were told not to do, I never meant to or wanted to do and would NEVER recommend someone do in a new coach, arrive at a new campsite in a new class A at...

RV Basic courses are a MUST have for new RVers.
I didn't know this before I purchased my RV. If I had taken one when I started planning for my retirement 4 years ago I might have made some different decisions. I had towed before so I thought "No problem! Buy a 1/2 ton vehicle (Suburban in my case), get a trailer and hit the road." Right? Isn't that what you think?
BOY is there a lot more to it than that!
I bought in Oct 2017 (my 60th...

Ok, not so much a disaster, but it's the first time we had to stop a trip because of an issue. We were on the road home from Ca. for my mom's memorial service, and got to Albuquerque at about 2 PM. and the Tire Minder system alarmed to a tire that was losing pressure. I pulled over on interstate 40, right in the middle of downtown Albq, at the start of the off ramp for Carlisle Blvd. After I got stopped, the pressure went from 40 to zero in about 30 seconds. Called Progressive roadside assistance,...

TranSynd 1 Gallon Container Front & Rear
When we first bought our motorhome in 2003, the Allison LCT1000 came equipped with Dexron III. I never thought much about the fluid however I shortly became aware of synthetic transmission fluid. The first change that I made was using Amsoil Torque Shift and I changed...

I was called out to the motorhome from a pretty frantic DW who told me to come out to the motorhome and check out the water on the floor in the toilet compartment. I'm thinking what could it be, we haven't had a freeze this year so I'm expecting perhaps a loose clamp or something simple.
As I was walking past the motorhome to get to the door I saw a puddle on the on the pad but looking up I saw that the awning cover was shedding water. This always happens when we step inside the rig...

Introducing the JACK Digital HDTV Antenna by King Controls.
Digital TV has been rolled out now for a couple of years however older RVs I expect are just catching up with the technology curve since the majority of those don’t have DTV ready equipment or suitable antennas. I purchased 2 Magnavox DTV boxes which I setup in our rig at least a year ago however our use of over the air TV was a best...

I was pleasantly surprised when I received an invitation to visit the Navistar Engine Plant in Huntsville, Alabama. After responding “Yes” (of course) we made the necessary reservations and departed...

Freightliner Custom Chassis display at the 48th Annual RV Trade Show. As shown the center piece of this exhibit was the S2 in white. The FCCC Powerliner Chassis III is shown parked parallel.
On the first day that I was at the show I wanted to make sure that I stopped by the Freightliner exhibit because...

From RV D@aily Report:
By Greg Gerber @ 12:41 PM
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Quoting a spokesman for the RV Industry Association, the South Bend Tribune reported yesterday that high gasoline prices don't diminish the economic advantage RVing has to offer until the price reaches $10 per gallon.
"The fuel prices don't really impact RV sales quite the way a lot of people might think," Kevin...

A new member of the Tiffin family of products was recently unveiled at the RVIA Show in Louisville. I expect Mr. Tiffin would have exclaimed as much when the shroud unveiled the motorhome to the crowd of industry members and press for the first time.
Mr. Robert Tiffin
The Tiffin Motorhomes Breeze is a new class of motorhome in that it moves off center the availability of air brakes...

Workhorse Display 2010 RVIA Exposition
While attending the 2010 RVIA exposition one of the displays that I did not want to miss was the Workhorse exhibit in Booth 3308. In the display were many familiar faces including Bill Walmsley, Alan Stegich and others. The exhibit shares space with a Navistar DURAStar cab and chassis and I was able to speak with the Navistar representative Michael Satlak...
