First Trip

Made an inaugural trip from Seattle, WA to Los Angeles, CA, taking grandkids to Disneyland this past week.
To call the freeways of southern California "washboard" would be a compliment...absolutely the worst condition freeways I've ever driven on. I lived there back in the '70's and 80's, and don't recall the freeways being so bad. Of course, I wasn't driving an RV, either....
On the return trip, took a detour across the Bay Area, and over to Petaluma. Some of the smoothest roads on the trip.
2300 miles, and didn't use a drop of oil. Average 7.5 mpg.

Ran across your blogs and have to add my strong suggestion that drivers avoid New Mexico state route 39 above I40. It was so far in my 65 years, the worst paved highway. And, as a bonus at the end is a steep 8-10%, 2 mile climb. This caused us a breakdown in the middle of nowhere, 100 mile tow, expensive lodging costs due it occurring on Friday, and expensive repairs.
Thanks for the headsup on the California freeway condition.Posted 08-11-2015 at 07:22 AM by litlgeezer
