The Tiffin Motorhomes Inc. display at the 48th Annual RV Trade Show - Louisville, KY.
Tiffin Motorhomes Inc. of Red Bay, Alabama showcased their entire product line at the 48th Annual RV Trade Show. My focus for this visit would be to key in on the issues that were posted here and I believe that I have gotten most of those concerns addressed. I sat down with one of the Tiffin reps and he said that he would be glad to answer my questions.

One of the most asked questions is will the Breeze have an exhaust brake?
I spoke with Matt Hahn from Navistar who is assigned to work with Tiffin Motorhomes and he told me that the MaxxForce7 engine that is used in the 2011 Breeze is not equipped with an exhaust brake however they are looking at it. Matt went on to state that there is not an aftermarket exhaust brake that is recommended because the engine won’t support it at this time. The brakes on the Breeze are adequately sized however an exhaust brake is under development and may come about in the future.

Is the 2011 Breeze 2010 emission control compliant?
Tiffin Motorhomes has approximately 400 MaxxForce engines in its inventory and all of those engines are 2007 emission compliant. Navistar was able to provide these engines to Tiffin because of the timeline in which they were ordered. Going forward and by law a manufacturer cannot order any more 2007 emission compliant engines to circumvent the 2010 emission regulations. Engine manufacturers get EPA credits for past emission compliance and Navistar was able to bank a lot of credits. Navistar engines meet by law 2010 emission requirements using both their technology and credits. Each engine that is allowed to come to market debits the banked credits. At some point the technology will improve even further and at that time Navistar will begin banking credits again.
The Navistar MaxxForce 7 is coupled to an Allison 1000 6-Speed Automatic transmission.
The Tiffin Power-Glide cockpit is well appointed, ergonomic and comfortable. The Ahrens electronic shifter is in the arm with the HWH jack controls.
Currently Breeze is being delivered with the 07 engines and 2 of those engines are being used per production day. It is expected that during the 2nd quarter of 2011 that Breeze will be fitted with 2010 emission compliant AEGR 6.4L MaxxForce7 engines. The calibration for MF7 that Tiffin Motorhomes has chosen to use is 100% economy tuned and provides 215HP and 560 Lb/Ft of Torque. For example the W20D that is available to other manufacturers has a 230HP - 620 Lb/Ft calibrated MF7. Per Matt, he said that there is one constant with engines, more horsepower consumes more fuel and there’s no way around it. The MaxxForce7 when delivered with 2010 engine accessories will not take up any additional space under the hood and the 2010 cool pack will be slightly larger however that has already been factored into the body engineering.
The bedroom features a rear mounted bed and is easily accessed from either side.
The galley is well appointed and is geared for traveling. Features include hard surface counter tops good amount of upper storage and base storage as well.
The Breeze is built on a Power Glide Chassis and features a 60 gallon fuel tank. The GVWR of the Breeze is a remarkable 22,000 pounds and it has a GCWR of 26,000 pounds. The CCC of the Breeze is approximately 2,500 pounds. The Power Glide Chassis is made in Red Bay, AL from scratch. The chassis engineers that comprise the crux of the genius that makes up the Power Glide Chassis are former Peak engineering group personnel from Western RV. The Peak Chassis was regarded to be one of the best chassis in the RV Industry when it was used as the foundation for the Alpine motorhome. Future editions of the Breeze Chassis will see a a longer wheelbase in the not too distant future. The Tiffin Breeze is 29ft 7 inches long and features a 55° wheel cut, 4 wheel air brake disk brakes and a 4 bag air suspension. This highly maneuverable vehicle can practically make a U turn on a 2 lane highway.

In the picture of the cockpit; what are the 2 red lights left of the steering wheel? The lamps are left and right of the headlight switch. The larger of the two, right of the headlight switch, detents like a switch or button. (By the way…good job on telling about the Breeze.
