Fan-Tastic Vent Comes Through On 8 Year Old Fan

This past week or so we went to Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach to camp with some very good friends of ours. All worked well up until the very last day.

I wanted to take a shower and naturally I would reach for the wall switch to crank up my Fantastic Fan like I always have for the past 8 years. I waited and waited but the dome never opened. The motor was indeed running but no-joy.

I toggled the wall switch to off and although I saw the wheel rotating in the opposite direction, still no movement. I didn't believe it. My fan broke! I did take my shower none the less but I had to turn on the galley vent fan. Our galley fan was retrofitted using the 6600R Upgrade Kit.

I'll see if I can find that article and put that up in my Blog in case you ever want to do that upgrade.

When we arrived home I got on the phone and called the main number and immediately spoke with someone in Technical Support. I told them what was wrong and they said that the Lift Arm pin had come out of the assembly and that they would send me a new lift arm. In the past they would have paid for shipping but beginning September 1, shipping is now a customer pay.

The fan arrived here on Thursday via FEDEX and I ordered it on Monday. I have been a little busy as of late, so I didn't have the time to install the part. Yesterday I pressure washed my rig and washed the roof so I at least got that done.

Today I opened the box and much to my surprise they included a new lift motor as well! The kit included all the hardware and new screws for the lift arm and fan motor housing.

I will dispense with the install process but I did include it as an attachment. See Fan-Tastic.pdf

Man that fan was yucky! I took the trim down and I was showered with tiny pieces of Styrofoam and other debris. The inside of the dome was a mess and this would be the ideal time to clean it. After the old lift arm was removed I went up on the roof with my Windex and paper towels. The dome lifts practically all the way open so it's really easy to clean.

The technical support department was right, the pivot pin had actually pushed out all the way out of the housing and was only being held on one side. Once the arm cleared the pin, the lift arm ceased functioning.

Once the fan was assembled, I turned on the power via the fan speed switch and the lift motor spooled up and began moving the dome. I am amazed how quiet the new lift motor is. I actually had to make sure the the wheel was turning because I could not hear the familiar grinding that I was used to.

At this point, the fan is back in commission and we're good to go! It was great working with the folks at Fantastic Vent. They knew immediately what the problem was and they shipped the part and more.

Thanks! Fan-Tastic Vent Corporation!!

They are SUPERIOR in repairs. I broke the manual black knob on 1 fan and called them for assistance in locating a new knob and they sent me a new knob within 3 days FREE. Yes they are Fan Tastic.
