SC31DM agm for starting chassis batteries and why

how important is it to start your engine???
I TOTALLY DISAGREE!!! Especially with those who claim the "everlast" which I call NEVERLAST, are suitable for anything let alone the most important item of starting your engine to get home. they are cheap throw away batteries that don't deserve a warranty. they used too but not anymore.

I bought 4 of the "neverlast" for my house batteries three years ago and they crapped out within two years. Of course the newer warranty doesn't last that long. One shorted out completely pulling down my converter and alternator. now I have 4 six volt golf cart batteries for the house.

but this is about the Chassis battery. So here is my $2.50 worth of good advise. Contrary to statement that only one manufacturer of AGM batteries can be inverted - be advised that most all AGM are better than and more flexible that any flooded battery ever made. How so you may ask.

My batteries are Exide blue top marine deep cycle that were used for three years in my boat. Previously I used the standard "marine deep cycle" from walley world to start my 454 big blocks. It took for ever to get those things going. Crank, Crank push the throttles and Crank again. Wore out a starter trying to get it going. Switched to the AGM SC31DM Exide and they start without the CRANK AND PRIME. in fact they started within 10 seconds.

now fast forward to the used MH we bought in 2010. It had two deep cycle marine batteries that would start this big motor but again with about thirty seconds of crank. I HATE CRANKING !!! So I went to the boat and took out the AGM that now were 4 years old. Stuffed these babies in the MH and walla, 5 second crank and we are running. Here we are now 2014 with the same blue top marine AGM tuning over the motor at 8 years old, NO MAINTENANCE, no special charging, just pure raw power.

my cost was $249 each but that was eight years ago. if these were cheap ass Wally World deep cycle batteries at about $100 each they would have been replace at least every three years at a cost of almost $800 plus all the stinking maintenance and slow crank.

All those problems you see with flooded batteries, self discharge, over charge, warped plates, fluid loss, internal resistance, sulfation, corrosion, gassing, the list goes on ----- does not appear with AGM

believe me --- AGM stands for A GOOD MOVE - how long do you crank your starter on your diesel????
