Update: A NewAire Pair (One is SOLD!) -- 4/14/19
A fellow NewAire owner sent me these pictures of his 2001 NewAire parked side by side with another 2001 rig. The pictures were taken very recently in southwest Michigan.
You can tell these are both 2001 models by just looking at the side windows. The 2001 NewAire models came equipped with angular swept back windows that are roughly...

Update: We Moved Indoors -- 3/31/19
During a recent online surfing session, I saw a sidebar ad for indoor RV storage in my area. Still smarting from our more recent storage woes and winter weather (see previous posts), I decided it was worth a further look.
So I called: Duplex Indoor Storage in Sycamore, Illinois. They're located in what had been a large printing and warehouse...
We finally got home from bring the Overlord back to NC from Missouri and got it parked. The next morning I have a gang of light up porch animals loitering inside of our RV....
Turns out our friends, to congratulate us, used our spare house key to get inside the house and get the RV keys... and proceeded to load us up with decorative light up porch animals.
were covered by the same vinyl the rest of the interior floor was covered with. It wasn't a perfect fit and it was useless for wiping your shoes or bare-feet. It just allowed for the dirt to be further tracked inside the RV. So, I removed the vinyl from the wood and carpeted them with a grey indoor/outdoor carpet from Lowe's ($5.00). Some automotive grade adhesive (3M Super77) and a few staples was all it took to finish the project. I did remove the hardware on the battery door(step) to get...
primarily because during the research and buying process we looked at so many different models and makes I couldn't remember the actual names. So I called it every word in the dictionary that starts with the letter O. Overlord got a few good laughs so we kept it. For now.... We flew to Missouri to complete the purchase from the dealer there. Reliable RV (the dealer)was wonderful through the entire process. We were first time buyers and they were very helpful. I started making improvements...
Just got started on the demo of the front interior of our 1977 Nomad travel trailer. The front has lots of water damage/rot but most of the rear of the trailer is just fine. The ceiling is good so minimal work on that! Yeah.
In 2 days we got wall paneling out, windows removed and a plan to rebuild.

Update: Homeward Bound (and Spruced) -- 3/16/19
After 6 weeks enjoying the warmer weather in Florida and Georgia, we somewhat reluctantly turned homeward toward Chicago. The DW suggested that we have the coach cleaned up along the way, so we hit the Blue Beacon Truck Wash just outside Nashville, Tennessee.
If you've never tried Blue Beacon to have the road washed from your rig,...

Update: Oh Savannah (& Tybee Island) -- 3/9/19
Our last stop before turning homeward is Tybee Island just east of Savannah, GA. While we've been to Savannah a couple times before, this was our first visit to Tybee.
We stayed at the Rivers End Campground, which is a lovely, well-kept park situated at the north end of the small island, just a stone's throw from the beaches...

Hi and thank you for reading my blog, first I should start off with I have a severe learning disability and can only spell phonetically. I spell how I pronounced the word and the worst I pronounce it the worse I spell it, so I mostly write by talking to text. So please forgive me if there is a word that is the right word but obviously the wrong spelling. I do not have the ability to know the difference between a properly spelled miss-used word.
This blog is going to be about our adventures...

Update: Hooked on ScanGauge D -- 3/2/19
This is an overdue tech post about my personal addiction to the ScanGauge D Computer. D is for Diesel, and I can't imagine operating a diesel-powered coach (or big rig) without one.
While this well-thought-out computer/monitor (shown above at engine idle) will display a whole host of engine operating parameters (AKA gauges), my usage falls...
Traveling north on 95 today with it raining I was passed by numerous various types of RVs, TT,s 5th wheels and both large and small MHs, both towing and not. I had my cruise set at 63 mph. Many were exceeding the 70mph speed limit. What is the rush, your on vacation! Being a retired first responder, I have witnessed what happens when a tire is blown, or brakes are suddenly applied while towing a trailer. If either of these catastrophes happens your in trouble at any speed. But your chances of...

Update: Walking Old St Augustine -- 2/27/19
Monday dawned sunny and clear, providing us with a great day to do a walking tour of old St Augustine. We started at the southern end, on King Street, at Flagler College (pictured).
The college is housed in what was originally the luxury Ponce de Leon Hotel built in 1888, which is a stunning piece of architecture. Tours are offered,...

Update: GR8 Salt Springs & Cedar Key -- 2/22/19
We've been staying at the Salt Springs Recreation Area in Ocala National Forest in north-central Florida. The actual springs (pictured) allow swimming in crystal clear water that is a constant 72F year-round.
The grounds and buildings are immaculately kept with neat trails and walkways. The camping facilities are among the best...
