Life changer

Posted 06-24-2013 at 12:49 PM by endlesstrave

I couldn’t stand it anymore. My life was flying past me and I had seemingly little control. I was spending all my time at a job that didn’t interest me in the slightest, only to show up again the next week and repeat it all over again. I was scared. I was scared that if I quit, I wouldn’t be able to provide for me and my family any longer.

The turning point…

My family and I were camping in New Hampshire and their was an older couple in the site next to us in a small...

21 jun 2013

The MiFi hotspot came and works great. With the high humidity, the A/C was not doing well. Lower than normal air off the unit temps, so either dirty coil or low on refrigerant (not likely). So early this morning, I got up and went up top and pulled the cover to check get to the evaporator. The blower and coil were caked with grunge and spider webs.

This trailer had set a lot and not a lot of use, so the spiders moved in. Brushed the coil as good as possible with the dog brush...

Well it it hotter than blazes in Spring. Love the RV park, except the WiFi sucks. You have to go to the office to get online and it closes at 4 PM. So you set out and fight the blood suckers.

We ordered the Milleniumcom hot spot. Hope it appives son.

13 jun 2013

Well tomorrow is our 44th anniversary. And we are moving the RV up to Spring Oaks in Spring, TX. They have trees and you know how Susan likes trees and shade. Way too much sky in Katy, TX.

We stayed at Spring Oaks in 1998 for 4 months when we were building a house. The trees are bigger and there is shade.

A bit under one month to work and we are gone. Yesterday, they were trying to get me to go to a jobsite in Algeria for a week. Told them ....nope, not interested....

SeeLevel II 709 installation tips

Posted 06-09-2013 at 03:55 PM by meisinger

I recently finished installing a 709 P3W to my 1996 Class C as an upgrade. The instructions and tech bulletins were a great help, and it is working fine. Here are 3 tips for anyone else who may want to undertake the project:

1) Two of my 3 senders didn't work upon arrival. I called Garnet and they replaced them free of charge, telling me that sometimes they can get unseen damage during shipment.

2) The pigtail for the pump switch has three wires. You only need...

7 jun 2013

Posted 06-07-2013 at 08:13 PM by TXiceman

We have had enough of the sun and lack of trees. On the 14th we will move to The Corral in Tomball, TX. We stayed there for a year about 7 or 8 years back. It is an older RV park, but it is nice and well run....has some trees and a small dog run which is shaded.

This coming Friday, 14 Jun will be our 44th anniversary. After we get moved, I guess I need to find a nice place to take Susan for dinner. At least something higher scale than Jack-in-the-Box.

Whatever will be, will be

Posted 06-06-2013 at 12:47 AM by tufftj

Today is Wednesday, June 5, Day 55
We are now breathing a sigh of relief. We are in Manchester, Wa. not far from my original home town of Bremerton. This place is more beautiful than I remember. My best friend since 3rd grade has volunteered to put us up for how ever long we want to stay. Maybe it will be forever....Probably not, but they have a large yard with lots of room for our RV to stretch out neath the trees, with a fabulous view of "My Mountain", Mt Ranier. Today we...

Whatever will be, will be

Posted 06-04-2013 at 12:30 AM by tufftj

Today is Monday June 3…Day 53
Our travels today took us from Eastern Oregon to about 30 miles east of Portland in a little town called “Troutdale, Oregon”….This place is right off the Columbia River that runs the border of Washington and Oregon. The entire trip today was chasing the river up and down the mountains. The view of seeing Mt Hood in the distance was magnificent. Granted, Mt Rainer in Washington is really “My Mountain”, but Mt Hood runs a close second place in my heart. I guess...

Today is Sunday, June 2, Day 52...correct me if I'm wrong...These days just roll into each other.
Today was another drive day....From Hagerman, Idaho into Oregon. We are at the Eagles Hot Lake RV Park in LeGrande, Oregon. About another 240 mile day. We are right on the Oregon Trail. Driving the RV, we feel just like those pioneers that came before us....NOT....Us with all the comforts of home. Them with,,,, well,,,nothing but a clanky old buckboard wagon...they didn't even have shocks......

Sunday 2 Jun 13

Posted 06-02-2013 at 11:49 AM by TXiceman

After a scorcher yesterday, we awoke to rain about 0700. Nice and cool this morning but a bit damp.

After the rain let up, I took Abby out to splash in the puddles. That dog must be part duck.

Over Memorial weekend, the No-Cold decided it was not going to keep the beer cool or ice cream frozen. Susan and I installed a Haier 10.3 cu. ft. apartment refrigerator and hauled the No-cold to the dumpster. It will not be missed at all.

She loves having the extra...

Today is Saturday, June 1..Day 51
Just drove from Salt Lake City up to Hagerman, Idaho. About 240 miles again today...We are at the Hagerman RV Village (Not RV Park, it's a whole village)...
Weather is perfect altho it was a little windy. Hoping to get up to the Brenerton area sometime this week.
Today was pretty much just a travel day...Tomorrow will be more of the same.
Hopefully one of these days will be filled with fun, fun, fun...Anyone know where to find that?

Today is Friday, May 31…Day 50…Imagine that, making it 50 days…. And we are still out here really...we didn't drop off the face of the earth...Just been hanging out in Moab, Utah...
Yesterday was the day that the glass guys decided to install the new windshields. After watching them pound and scrape, we decided it would be better to not be around while they worked, so we picked the “Steel Bender” trail to spend our last day in Moab, Utah. This trail ride had simple sand hills and smooth...

I'm just wondering what this will look like and if anyone really looks at these blog entries.

It seems like most folks use blogspot?

Finally Full-time

Posted 05-30-2013 at 08:21 PM by TXiceman

As of 15 May 2013 we are full-timers, but I have another month or two to work before retirement. We are at Westlake RV Resort on the west side of Houston...almost to Katy.

Not the best choice due to the lack of trees, otherwise it is a nice place. Pool, club house, laundry, hot tub, well keep and the managers are great.

A wrinkle at work is that I may not have a job until 12 JUL 2013. In which case, we'll drag up and hit the road a bit early.

We took a volunteer...
